Title: And So My Heart Became a Void

Author: Aequoria

Summary:

Akira's house is full of ghosts.

He hasn't been in contact with his parents since he was twenty. It's a shock when he receives word of their death years later, and even more so when he finds out they'd left the house to him.

He and his husband Goro travel to his hometown to sort out their things. After a fire breaks out at their inn, they have no choice but to stay in the house.

This is a big mistake.

Summary:
Even if Ren closed his eyes, he knew he would still see all that blood, dark and thick and still. His heart pounded. He had to shout just to be heard over it. "Can you hear me, Shido? Listen to me!"
Mona yowled, "Joker, calm down and—"
"I'm going to make you pay for what you did to him!" Ignoring Mona's protests, Ren raised his voice higher and made every word echo from the steel walls: "You're going to wake up every morning wishing you could kill yourself to apologize to Goro Akechi!"
As the reverberations faded, over the sound of his own loud breaths, Ren heard his phone chirp, "Candidate found."
There's no way that Akechi could have survived the events of the engine room. Ren goes back for him anyway.

Fem!Ren is in usual Joker Regalia, with long curly hair and red stained lips, she has a challenging grin on her face as she invade's Akechi's space with and arm holding both Crow's red mask, and Joker's domino mask hooked over Akechi's shoulders. She is leaning in a for a kiss, eyes wide open. Fem!Akechi is in her prince outfit with a pleated white skirt with gold and red trimming. Goro fits a chair under a doorknob in a dark, dreary room. The door is already locked shut with multiple types of locks and bars. To Goro's left on the wall is a poster with a smiling face that says 'Be Happy!' There is another poster below which reads: 'Rules: 1) Wish your way to happiness. 2) If happiness is elusive, review the orientation material.'

Ren tackles Goro while Goro holds a smoking gun. The Phantom Thieves in pajamas look on in horror.

Ren and Goro sit on a bed in a cozy bedroom. On a nearby desk is a Jack Frost plush. Hanging on the wall are several posters: a Phantom Thieves poster, an advertisement for the Jazz Jin, and a poster of Mona looking dour with 'Hang in there Mona' written beneath him. Ren is in his pajamas and Goro is in his Metaverse costume, sans helmet and one of his gauntlets. Ren's hand covers Goro's bare hand on the bed as he looks at him with an adoring expression, and Goro smiles without looking back at him.

Joker stands over Goro. Joker is holding his knife and has a look of shock on his face. Below him, Goro is mostly covered up by the broken helmet on his head, multiple wires coming out the top of it. The small hint of clothes Goro is wearing looks suspiciously like his Detective Prince blazer.

Summary:
Ren has settled into a quiet, normal life teaching kindergarten. He absolutely doesn't think about the time he was a phantom thief or the glove he keeps always in his pocket. But everything changes when a student brings in a homemade book for story time. The book is all about a group of thieves, Joker, Panther, Skull, Fox, Mona, Oracle, Noir, Queen, who stop an evil king by stealing treasures from castles. Ren has to know who wrote it.

Akechi has settled into a quiet life as a philosophy professor. He doesn't think about his time as an assassin detective or the boy he tried to kill and then died for. But then he walks into a classroom to read a storybook for the class of an orphan girl he watches over and everything changes.
