This is precisely how we ended up with some delicious crackers in South Africa

TFW you really shouldn't have had that last slice of zebra

A story in three acts, Cape Town.
Flyers stuck to a bollard in Cape Town. They say "Bring Back Lost Lover • Penis Enlargement • Financial Problems"

Dawn is breaking over Cape Town. There really is no more magnificent sight than giraffes at sunrise.
Cape Town docks at sunrise. There are half a dozen large cranes that look a lot like skeletal giraffes.

If the Salticrax didn't float your boat, perhaps the smoky kasi is more your style?

Some crackers we bought in Cape Town. They're called Salticrax.

Grumpy about: the pervasiveness of AI in society and its erosion of human-to-human interaction. Not grumpy about: having the tail of a completely different animal grafted onto his furry arse.
A piece of AI slop art that purports to be a coloured pencil drawing of a grumpy Winnie the Pooh. He is saying "I don't want trains without staff. I don't want to order food only through an app. I don't want supermarkets without cashiers. No matter how convenient AI may seem, I don't want a life without human connection."

Which is a noble sentiment, but the AI slop machine has given Winnie a fox's tail.

CAMBERBERT
A screenshot from Duolingo, in which the French word 'camembert' has been translated to the English non-word 'camberbert'. Because apparently someone at Duolingo doesn't believe in proofreading.

Wes Streeting's ego, pictured earlier today.
Otto the autopilot from Airplane. Because not only is he a dead ringer for Wes Streeting but he's also inflated, so it's funny. Do you see?

First-time poster, long-time lurker as far as #SundayPix goes. But as I've just come back from #Morocco, here's my #SundayPixMosaic. A man making tiny tiles with a giant hammer, in Fez.
A craftsman in Fez, Morocco, making small tiles for use in mosaics. He is making them with a big metal hammer, which is the only tool they use to make the tiles.

One of Wakefield's new Reform councillors.
A totally normal Facebook post by a newly elected Reform councillor. It says "I like to thank everybody in Ward 10 Normanton who voted for me in the local elections from the bottom of my heart I’m a man of my word and God has sent me down here to raise the vibration of this planet and help humanity get back into the divine frequency and that is exactly what I’m going to do and where better to start than in my local community." No mention of bins or potholes, though.

Americans' knowledge of world geography continues to impress. Brussels *and* Belgium, you say?
Extract from a CNN article about rising travel costs and people's preference for cheaper destinations. It says "Internationally, London, Paris and Rome are being switched to Dublin, Brussels and Belgium."

Ooh, I like it. #AmEditing
An xkcd-style comic with two figures talking. Person one says 'Punctuation is second nature to us copyeditors, so it's easy to forget that the average person probably only knows how to use colons and semicolons.' Person two says 'And two-em dashes, of course.' Person one replies 'Of course.'
The caption says 'Even when they're trying to compensate for it, experts in anything wildly overestimate the average person's familiarity with their field.'

I definitely didn't just freak out at the Oodie @lexidays.bsky.social left on the bed. Nope. Definitely not.
A dark grey Oodie on a bed. The Oodie has somehow taken the exact form of the Grim Reaper lying in the recovery position. And didn't scare me AT ALL.

This was my personal favourite from last year's travels. It narrowly beat the black Danish Haribo that appeared to be called Salty Licks.

I've seen this, so now you have to. Them's the rules. And I used the last of the eye bleach. Sorry.

I'm not saying this was an eye-watering juxtaposition of posts, but
Two Bluesky posts. One is a photo of a medieval-torture-looking antique lemon-squeezing device; the other is a story from New Scientist about frequency of ejaculation and success of IVF. It's funnier than it sounds.

Oh, dear God. Apparently she has a brother. We all hold a pen like that when we're scribbling on our track pad, right?
More AI slop from the same Facebook source as the original. This time it's a dude using a teeny tiny pen to scribble on his laptop's track pad, and sadly there's no rude café name.

Just seen this charming illustration on a job advert for professional writers. Frankly, I'm a bit dubious about this woman's understanding of what 'writing' entails. Not to mention the name of the café.
A piece of AI-generated slop in which an attractive Pixar-esque woman in glasses, sitting at a table outside a café, is writing with a pen on the keyboard of a laptop computer while gazing thoughtfully into the middle distance.

The café appears to be called Cunt Blafé.

Meanwhile in Vienna, @lexidays.bsky.social is wondering whether to buy some of this for dinner.
Some cooked meat in a Viennese supermarket. It appears to be called 'Budget Knacker', which sounds suboptimal as a foodstuff but would be a great nickname for Gregg Wallace.
