Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 29/05/2026I got an excited voice note from my brother earlier telling me about a French word he's just learned - 𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘳, to make oneself immune to poison/toxin by regularly taking small amounts, or, more generally, to become insensitive to something. Derives from Mithridates VI, "The Poison King" 010

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 06/05/2026Help please #booksky, I'm looking for some authors similar to Lisa Jewell, Mark Billingham, and Michelle Paver - contemporary mystery/crime/thriller types. I've got so many historical fiction and fantasy books in my Audible library and I need a palate cleanser. 110

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 23/03/2026Struggled through Martin Amis’ Money so I reverted to something I knew I would enjoy for my next paperback read. Always enjoy Bernard Cornwell and I’ve been wanting to revisit Uhtred, son of Uhtred for a while. Destiny is all #booksky #lastkingdom 0141

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 13/03/2026Updated my profile photo since the one before was old even when I uploaded it on first signing up, and I’ve realised just how few photos I have of myself. Even this one is from 2 years ago. 000
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 13/03/2026Been struggling through Money by Martin Amis over the last couple of months. Finally finished it last night - it was definitely a challenge. I know I'm supposed not to like the people in it but it does make it hard to want to pick it up again. Not sure I'll return to Amis. #BookSky 060
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 22/11/2025Evening folks. Been a while. But had to share how good this book is—finished Peter Straub’s Ghost Story this morning and wow. Chilling horror at its best. It’s a slow burn, but the character development is great, and it gets creepier and creepier as the evil slowly emerges. Wonderful. 010

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 25/03/2025There’s something incredibly comforting about watching a YouTuber playing a game you love with decent commentary. I know some find it odd how others enjoy watching people play games, but to me it’s like a warm blanket. Especially when that game is Skyrim. 000
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 06/03/2025Well well well, done the intensive driving course, went and did my test today and bam, passed first time!! Genuinely cannot wait to get out in my Corsa and go exploring. 000

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 23/01/2025That’s reassuring to hear! I think it definitely suffered from having to introduce so many characters at once but I did find the last 100 pages went by much quicker when POVs had settled. I already own the next book so I’ll definitely give it a go! 110

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 11/01/2025Finished Alexander’s Legacy by Robert Fabbri tonight. I don’t like being disparaging about books but I can’t express how disappointed I was with this. I adore this period of history and it’s ripe for retelling—so much intrigue and action—but this was a real chore to get through. Such a shame. 110
