Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 28/06/2026Went on an explore this week - Twizel Castle, right on the border with Scotland. Incredible place 220
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 29/05/2026I got an excited voice note from my brother earlier telling me about a French word he's just learned - 𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘳, to make oneself immune to poison/toxin by regularly taking small amounts, or, more generally, to become insensitive to something. Derives from Mithridates VI, "The Poison King" 010
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 09/05/2026Watched Ratatouille again tonight, it’s such a lovely film. Still find new things about it to enjoy with each rewatch too. 010
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 02/05/2026Beautiful Buttermere. Lovely day in the Lakes yesterday. Feeling the sun on my skin put life back into me #buttermere #lakedistrict #outdoors 021
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 29/03/2026Having finished Christian Cameron’s epic Alexander, I’m back in Renaissance Florence for my next audiobook. I’m thoroughly enjoying @dvbishop.com’s series, and Mark Meadows is one of my favourite narrators. Racing through this one. #booksky #florence #historicalfiction 082
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 25/03/2026Excellent display at Delaval Hall to celebrate the tercentenery of Sir John Vanbrugh’s death. If you’re in and around the area this week, it’s well worth a visit #delavalhall #northumberland 000
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 23/03/2026Struggled through Martin Amis’ Money so I reverted to something I knew I would enjoy for my next paperback read. Always enjoy Bernard Cornwell and I’ve been wanting to revisit Uhtred, son of Uhtred for a while. Destiny is all #booksky #lastkingdom 0141
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 23/03/2026Can’t help but feel they shouldn’t have a bin with a sign saying “no hot ashes” in my local crematorium 😅 000
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 22/11/2025Evening folks. Been a while. But had to share how good this book is—finished Peter Straub’s Ghost Story this morning and wow. Chilling horror at its best. It’s a slow burn, but the character development is great, and it gets creepier and creepier as the evil slowly emerges. Wonderful. 010
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 05/04/2025Went exploring an old WW1 bunker yesterday in Seaton Sluice. Sprawling place, really interesting. #history #northumberland 013
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 27/03/2025Been playing Gloomhaven with a friend recently, only done a few scenarios but my word it’s incredible. Lot to get your head around but it’s such a fun game. #boardgames 190
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 06/03/2025Well well well, done the intensive driving course, went and did my test today and bam, passed first time!! Genuinely cannot wait to get out in my Corsa and go exploring. 000
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 08/02/2025Played Planet Unknown with a friend tonight, fantastic. Premise is you each have a planet you must develop by placing tiles. Really feels like a game with limitless replayability. Can even play it solo (always a bonus). Definitely recommended #boardgames 170
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 11/01/2025Finished Alexander’s Legacy by Robert Fabbri tonight. I don’t like being disparaging about books but I can’t express how disappointed I was with this. I adore this period of history and it’s ripe for retelling—so much intrigue and action—but this was a real chore to get through. Such a shame. 110
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 19/12/2024Had a GP appointment first thing, figured well I’ll take the chance to go to my favourite café (Thirteen in Whitley Bay) and do some work. Half an hour on, I’ve finished my coffee and the laptop is still grinding its way through an update. Number of words edited - zero. 000
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 13/12/2024Had a visit to Barter Books in Alnwick last weekend and couldn’t leave without buying something. So of course I found an ancient history-related book that piqued my interest. #booksky #books #reading 040

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 04/12/2024Lot of film/TV/game music in my #SpotifyWrapped but surprised at the number of Italian songs in the top 5. Absolute bangers though 010

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Fun couple of games with friends down at Bay Games in Whitley Bay tonight—Rebirth and the Forbidden Desert. Been wanting to play the latter for a long time. #boardgames 050
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 28/11/2024Spotted on my walk back home from Whitley Bay earlier. Brave at this time of year 🥶 010
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 28/11/2024Just finished reading John Fullerton’s Spy Game. Not sure why but really couldn’t get into it, despite being well-written, Le Carré-esque in pacing, and an ideal setting for a spy story. Worth trying if you like Cold War espionage, I wanted to like it more though #booksky 000
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Found a lovely bronze statue of a Viking warrior and felt obliged to give him a home 020

Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 16/11/2024Read the Hobbit and then Lord of the Rings when I was about 11-12, remember being near end of primary school, then went on to read the Shannara series. Edition of The Hobbit had this cover, still at my parents’ house 100
Anthony Wright @ajpwright.bsky.social · 14/11/2024My mate took this photo of me the other day—sort of looks like I’ve had it taken for my own funeral but I like it 000
