We are 24 years away from when the world needs to be at net zero carbon emissions. Fossil fuel infrastructure and even some appliances have about a 25-year design life. That means that every gas power plant, gas pipeline, or gas boiler you install today is a middle finger pointed at your grandkids.

Maxey plumbing put a 300l tank and heat pump in at ours for approx $10k a bit over 2 years ago. i suspect they may have come down in price since. we love it, have never ran out of hot water, and it barely registered on our Lecci bill tbh. did need a new 20 amp circuit running though

Breadth of experience across a party is useful and may appeal to different voters. Also maybe not completely writing off a person who's life journey has shifted leftwards since he signed up as a teenager is ok. Or they carry on being ideologically pure and poll 5% which some people may prefer?

I honestly don't think we make enough of this. We decided to reverse a trend of a century or more of birdlife dying out & with time and money and community we did it. There are *goddamn kiwi* in the back yards of my neighborhood. There are species we haven't seen in a century in & around Zealandia.

So these were taken on my walk to work, from an inner suburb to the city fringe (Karori to Kelburn, for locals). I grew up in the area, and I absolutely would never have seen these birds in people's front yards 30 years ago. Wellington & its people made a choice to bring them back & we succeeded.
