What an honour to welcome the brilliant @lucympowell.bsky.social to Dulwich and West Norwood for a ‘Lucy Listens’ event ahead of the local elections. It was fantastic to talk about the progressive offer a Labour government and council offers!

In other news, you'll be pleased to know that bike lane nimbyism is *still* a thing in London. I've just been sent a flyer from the "West Dulwich Action Group" vehemently opposing a new bike lane on a residential road which has a busy primary school at the other end of it. It's all a bit 2011.

What a fantastic day in Doncaster North with Ed Miliband! We visited a great group of students at Ridgewood School, followed by an important roundtable discussion on mental health with local charities and organisations. Thanks for having me!

As part of Labour’s Plan for Change, we are investing £300 million to jumpstart clean energy supply chains, create new jobs, and power up Britain using homegrown offshore wind.

This Government scrapped the Tories' VIP helicopter contract. It was a grossly wasteful symbol of a government totally out of touch with the problems facing the rest of the country. This Labour Government is doing things differently.

First time representing the Government at Treasury Questions yesterday. Looking forward to helping the Tories understand that unless we deliver secure, home-grown renewable energy through cheap renewable generation, there is no energy security ahead.

Great to get out in Belper, Derbyshire with @jonathandaviesmp.bsky.social to campaign for our brilliant Belper candidate Emma Monkman! After 8 years in charge the Tories have brought Derbyshire County Council to the brink of bankruptcy. Labour will deliver the fresh start Derbyshire needs.

Sterling close to its highest value against the Euro since the Brexit referendum. Markets appear to be rewarding the prospect of long term British political stability. Not something you’ve been able to say for a while.

All Badenoch's questions to Starmer at #PMQs were about immigration - and how to reduce it. But no one thought to mention this. A 2018 study by Oxford Economics found the average migrant contributed £440 more to the public purse per year than a 'native', AND cost the NHS less.

I addressed the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee's session on retrofitting homes for net zero. Households want to see that the benefit to installing heat pumps, solar panels or insulation is a reduction in energy bills. This is what our Warm Homes Plan will deliver.

It’s shameful that child poverty increased by 700,000 under the last Tory Government. Tackling child poverty is at the heart of this Labour Government's mission & I’m proud to sit on the child poverty taskforce which is developing our strategy to do this.

Today's ONS stats illustrate the devastating impacts of poverty on life expectancy. Most areas across Great Britain have experienced a fall in life expectancy. 📢 With some of the most deprived areas having the lowest expectancy. 1/3
A map that shows life expectancy rates across the UK. Life expectancy is lower in Scotland (it is lowest in Scotland) and the North of England than in London and the South of England. This map uses data from ONS life expectancy for local areas of Great Britain 2021-23 and ONS life expectancy in Northern Ireland 2021-23.

This is the truth about Labour's Budget and farmers.
The truth about Labour's Budget and farmers

The change announced in the Budget will not impact the majority of farmers.

Estates worth up to £3 million could still be passed on by a couple completely free of inheritance tax.

Where inheritance tax does apply, farmers will still pay 50% less inheritance tax than everyone else.

Heirs can spread the payment over 10 years interest-free instead of having to pay it all at once.

The policy is about protecting smaller family farms while ensuring the wealthiest landowners pay their fair share.

Our public services need fixing and the wealthiest should be the ones who bear the greatest burden so we can do that.

Farmers will benefit from £5 billion being invested into farming over the next two years - the largest amount ever directed towards sustainable food production in our country's history.
