Big thanks to @andy.luckypaper.co and @anthony.luckypaper.co of Lucky Paper Radio for putting together these Obscura interviews! Huge shout out to Matthew for editing me to sound relatively smart about my design project, Déjà Vu. cubecobra.com/cube/list/De... youtu.be/kNFolFiG63A?...

I did assemble the combo of insidious roots + cauldron familiar + Peregrin Took, which felt completely busted.

I missed the draft but put together what I think is a pretty nutty GB deck from a sealed pool. I'm playing the players who get the bye each round. I like all of these cards.

I blame the people who are lining up to hand over their money. Stop giving this company your money. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Fool me three times I am an idiot. Fool me four times I like getting fooled. Fool me five times I am telling you loudly please keep fooling me.

Maro and Gavin may not be clowns, but they have hitched their wagons to the circus and are playing carnival barker for the shitshow that is WotC.

TAKE MY MONEY Y’ALL! This cube is one I’ve lived with for the past 9 months and have grown to love its execution. Please bid on this and help add to our incredible effort to support Make The Road New York!

I’m also donating a 90 minute video call with the winner to talk about what I learned from this event, the buyer’s goals for the cube, and how I would tweak the list with both in mind.

Now that Obscura is over and the Telemetry box as been seen… I can share some details. Much of my art draws huge inspiration from Calvin & Hobbes, specifically the Spaceman Spiff stories. So I just leaned into those environments:

Okay, now that it has been played for a full day, here is a p1p1 from Déjà Vu. No spoilers quite yet, but what are you picking in the blind, knowing nothing about the cube besides the name? Follow day 2 coverage of @cubeforacause.upkeepnewyork.com Obscura starting back Sunday at 10 am and donate!!

I am buzzing with excitement this morning. We're streaming the most interesting and experimental cube event ever run, Cube for a Cause: Obscura. The 17 cubes on offer were all designed in secret, specifically for this event, and none of the ~128 players have any idea what cards they contain.

Okay okay, we get it. New York is the best. Gah!

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 18/06/2026

I do think if the art was less bright and cheery, I would probably have considered it more, but I encourage anyone who has a clone of the cube to aggressively test whatever feels right and report back to the swamp cabal.

010

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 18/06/2026

I have not tested it, but I did think about the include before ultimately landing on Glarb and Grolnok as my signature blue pipped frogs. Reasons being: - I dislike the 0/5 body - the art is too far off from the vibe of the cube - the amount of card draw is at levels that could be problematic

110

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

I'm excited for coverage where @phantooom.bsky.social expounds on the virtues of playing more bad cards in your cube.

140

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 12/06/2026

I'm a huge Six stan. That's the one card on that list that I would advocate for.

000

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 26/04/2026

I think Magic is in that venn diagram too

000

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 17/04/2026

I'm always struck at how bad commander players are at combat specifically. When they come to Prerelease it is.....bad.

030

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

Sounds like you need a reprieve

030

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 27/03/2026

Not enough love for Anger here. Frog Changeling Fleem Anger Changeling vs Anger in the finals with Changeling the clear champ.

100

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 22/03/2026

It should be Sheltered vs. Hunter's Talent in a heater for sweet 16 with the winner playing Lingering Souls for the Final Four appearance. Lingering Souls ekes it out in a tight one.

010

aibretty @aibretty.bsky.social · 22/03/2026

Sheltered by Ghosts is very underranked. That card is cracked in any format and any context and probably hangs in vintage cube. Zenith flare is good in one deck and only if it isn't contested, which would never be the case again. I think Sheltered by Ghosts wins that match.
