Now that I have endured almost two full episodes, I can safely conclude that The Wargame on Sky is predictably terrible and deeply, deeply cringe. Everyone involved should be banned from public life indefinitely.

Lord Pannick is finished, by the way. His reputation lies in tatters. A complete fraud, exposed. He will simply have to suffer the UAE equivalent of Siberian exile for the rest of his sorry existence.

As a man who once stayed in the away end until the final whistle as Aberdeen lost 9-0 at Celtic Park, I walked out at 2-0 tonight and was more or less back in Glasgow city centre by full-time. An oddly liberating experience.

Already feels like we could be in damage limitation territory here. Monumentally stupid decision to make the foul. It’s going to be a very long night.

Really tempted to become a Man City truther. Defend them to hilt. Claim it's all a stitch up. Start sending them deranged love letters when they're sent to prison.

I do think Burnham will be kicking himself for not including a bit of blue for the dads. Rookie error, really. Always next time.

I do think an underrated part of why Burnham presents better than Starmer is in his voice and persona - and I think that played a role in why people were *so* anti-Starmer by the end. Starmer had vibes of a civil servant overseeing managed decline, all while being like: 'Nothing I can do - sorry!'

Just impossible to be even slightly positive about any policy proposals now, even ones I think sound fairly sensible, because I go on Bluesky and someone whose opinions I respect has, within thirty seconds of the announcement, produced a 4000-word Substack about why it is the worst idea of all time.

Glasgow isn't short of good restaurants, but Sarti on Bath Street is really great. Never once had anything other than an excellent meal there. Lovely little place.

I'm an Asian Muslim woman from North West Cambridgeshire, in my thirties. In 2024 I didn't vote. Today I wouldn't either, but I'm a Reform supporter.
Voter card. A map of England with a dot on North West Cambridgeshire. About them, in their words: My landlord is the council. I've had to borrow money for essentials this year. I'm not doing paid work right now. My secondary school was a private one. My family could lend me less than £5,000 towards a house if I needed it. I count myself as middle class. News habits: I keep half an eye on politics. Her views, from her survey answers, in four speech bubbles: Zack Polanski is the leader I've most time for, Ed Davey the one I've least time for. Immigration is getting a little lower. Too many of our public services are being run by private companies. Robots and AI doing more of the work would be good for me personally. Where they sit on the BES 0 to 10 value scales: economic, left to right, 4 out of 10, within the middle half of voters; social, liberal to authoritarian, 7 out of 10, within the middle half of voters.

A classic episode of Peep Show, but Mark's incompetence at managing to dispose of the dead dog does grate on me. Jeremy, sure, I can sort of accept that (although still a bit of a stretch, given the sheer number of viable options), but not Mark, for all his many shortcomings.

It just breaks my heart listening to Neil on #70Up. Impossible not to want the best for him, but ultimately a tragic tale. Almost too self-aware for his own good. I desperately hope he finds contentment in later life, whatever that looks like for him.

Yep. A not-insignificant chunk of the media across the UK have developed an unhealthy obsession with people having the flexibility to work from home. If it works for both parties and outcomes aren't negatively impacted, why should I care one jot where they are working from? Get a life, please!

Incredible work from Martin O'Neill:
Right now, do you feel that you still do have that energy and desire to keep going?
I'll have a look, yeah. I wish I was your age.
I do, genuinely. You look up at me and, how old are you again?
24.
Oh, you're a child. I honestly wish I was 24 again. There's nothing great about getting old. I promise you that.
Mick Jagger told me that. He didn't tell me directly. I didn't speak to Mick Jagger. I've never spoken to Mick Jagger in my life. He wouldn't have a clue who I am. But at the end of the day, there isn't anything good about getting old.

So much of the ball for #WBA, but really struggled to progress it. Too much aimless meandering in the middle third. Styles not at LB a hindrance in build-up, and the Diakite/Molumby axis, for all its strengths without ball, is always going to be limited in this scenario. Haven't laid a glove, sadly.

Andrew Mackenzie @ahmackenzie.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
A tough half for Albion, that. I understand wanting a possession-based game to take the sting out of it, but you still need to actually do stuff with the ball when you have it. Probably won't be able to rely on Max O'Leary being prime Iker Casillas for another 45 minutes.

After that soporific draw with Kilmarnock at Pittodrie a fortnight ago, I would have bitten your hand off for a League Cup semi-final and four points from Fir Park and Easter Road. The run of games before Hampden will tell us more about this team, but have to pleased with a good week's work.

Seeing the usual suspects getting overexcited about Millwall v West Ham and the potential for trouble. But this is a guarantee: nothing will happen. Absolutely nothing. Maybe a few grown men get arrested for pavement dancing, but basically nothing. Hope that helps.

O'Neill ultimately has nobody to blame but himself for accepting the job and not walking off into the sunset, but Celtic showed they had absolutely no intention of being a serious football club when they offered it to him permanently. Askou was literally right there. Like, 'on your doorstep' there.

That feels potentially significant for Aberdeen and Stephen Robinson. It is the sort of game that should suit a properly-functioning Robinson team - possession-based opposition, space for quick transitions - but it is a terrific result to follow the enormous effort of Saturday.
