the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

This is legitimately the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. It's not even close.

One of the main reasons that our societies are in the shitter is stuff like this. We constantly have the ultra wealthy skirting rules and doing as they wish but those with power refused to call a spade a spade. The Manchester City did is wrong, they deserve to be punished plain and simple.

At this point any Democrat running for congress should be asked about how they plan to ensure that Stephen Miller faces the full force and fury of the law for his crimes against humanity.

That they only gave 5 minutes added time is crazy but also they could have given Manchester United 50 minutes it wouldn't make a difference.

Pablo Torre's phenomenal work exposing the Clippers scandal sticks out so much because whatever passes for sports "journalism" these days, especially at the most visible levels, is just back-slapping bullshit or quid pro quo contract announcement stenography. It doesn't have to be this way.

Tech execs do not have, like, a theory of mind for people who aren’t tech execs. If they did, they wouldn’t be so frequently baffled by how repulsive normal people think their whole deal is right now

White professor ‘ MattGPT ‘ whose most recent book contained fabricated quotations, non-existent source references, & left ChatGPT URLs accidentally embedded in footnotes is sad about Jason Arday’s death but still wants Arday & all black academia held to higher standards than his own writing .

This fine man is simply a champion of the meritocracy, see www.varsity.co.uk/news/30360
In the blog – titled “A Guide for the Hereditarian Revolution” – Cofnas claimed that race was linked to academic ability. He went on to argue that under a true meritocracy, black people would “disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment” and that the number of black professors at Harvard would “approach zero”.

He also advocated for the preservation of “racial distinctions,” in society, stating that there “must be some barriers set up between races in order for each one to express its own unique genius”.

I think this gets to the heart of liberal-left complaints about the press. Political reporters think we're criticizing them for not being on "our" side. We're not. We're criticizing them for not being on journalism's side. Unplug from the DC celebrity access system and do honest independent work.

It was one of the most pathetic awkward moments I have ever seen. And I'm not talking for an American president but for any kind of public figure. It reminded me of when you have a birthday party for a kid and there's one of those kids who insist that he has to also blow up out the candles.

Lindsey Graham spent the last decade of his life in public service as a US Senator, trying hard to be remembered as an enemy of the Constitution who worked to destroy American democracy and exhibited occasional signs that he knew why that was bad but kept doing it anyway. I will honor his choice.

The prices to get into this game hovered at 2500 for the cheapest tickets. But yes this likely affluent set of ex-pats who attended the game are representative of the mood of the nation towards its national team and president elect. This is a great companion piece to the Trump one. So bad.

I know it's old news and everyone has said it but damn is the hydration break a waste of time. Does nothing but kill the momentum of the game for no damn reason. And like this game probably actually needs it, it's a horrible humid day in Miami. Yet they've made it annoying now even when needed.

My not-so-hot take is that what Mamdani is doing *IS* incrementalism, and the bar is so deeply in hell that a politician just doing *anything* good consistently is a total anomaly for people. And I think for now that is good and fine, because it is restoring people’s faith that better is possible.
A post from @matzollerseitz.bsky.social reads:

“So what I'm getting from this is, incrementalism is bullshit and we should just do the stuff that we say would be good for society”

And the post is quoting a post from @owillis.bsky.social that reads:

“They call him WIN-dani

Mamdani delivers promised rent freeze on 1 million rent-stabilized apartments https://www.politico.com/news/2026/06/25/mamdani-delivers-promised-rent-freeze-00977449”
