Q. 8 & 9 have always been her true goal, IMO. She knows the separation question isn’t winning, but if she gets even close with 8 & 9, she can try and dismantle the country the slow way, and hold off the separatists by telling them that if that doesn’t work, there’ll be more support for them.

In 2024 it took the U of C president less than 24 hours to call in police to remove peaceful pro-Palestinian protestors in 2024. The police attacked the protestors with clubs, shields and pepper balls. So let’s be clear: only some free speech is allowed on that campus.

Council was given a mandate on infill in the last election. Be confident in that, and resist in every way possible. Dare the UCP to go further. Call their bluff.

Once you open that can of worms, all kinds of things can be explored that she wouldn’t like very much. Electoral reform, Catholic Schools, notwithstanding clause, reproductive rights, sexual orientation, gender…heck, maybe health care and education should be federal responsibilities!

Maybe we should reopen the Constitution, as Danielle Smith wishes. That way we can give constitutional powers to cities and they can tell her to fuck right off.
