At high tide the ocean reaches up the shore's cliffs. The rocks in the ocean looks to be floating on water. The tide can be has high as 52 feet (16 meters). In this photo the tide had already started going out.

Now at low tide, there ocean can only be seen in the distance, the 'floating rocks are show to be on pedestals or to have a structure that was just a little nubbin when the tide was in.

Just got my medicare part D 2027 plan summary. The deductible is going up and the cost of each tier is going up. My out of pocket for my asthma prophylactic inhaler, which is already by far my most expensive medication, is doubling. Democrats ought to be hitting Republicans for this constantly.

We got home yesterday from a park hopping trip to Ohio's Hocking Hills State Park, then New York's Letchworth State Park & finally New York's High Peaks area of the vast Adirondack Park. Lots of photos to sort through but here's a quick taste of each place. #photography #hiking #rocks #Ohio #NewYork

The Buckeye Trail (a long trail that "circles" Ohio) passes through -- literally -- Hocking Hills. In this case, the trail goes through a crack in the cliffs. Stone steps lead up to the crack.

The only bridge that cross the Genesee River in Letchworth State Park is a beautiful stone bridge. The Lower Falls (yes there are Upper and Middle Falls) is visible in the distance.

In the Adirondacks, trails mostly go up and are mostly steep. In this case a series of wooden steps takes one up a steep section. Mountains are visible in the distance and fall color is starting to come.

View across Nimes from the Musée de la Romanité This is a black and white photo across the rooftops of Nimes with the Tour Magne in the center and the spire of Église Saint-Paul. Don't remember what the one on the right is. The Tour Magne is a stone tower over 2000 years old and is only remaining vestige of the ancient fortifications of Nîmes built by the emperor Augustus. The original Celtic tower was 60 feet (18 m) high. The emperor Augustus enlarged it to 92 feet (28m) high.

I loved the many dry stone walls I saw during the 50+ miles we walked in the Cotswolds in 2023 but this one was my favorite (and easily the longest). #photography #hiking #England #Cotwolds

This wall went on for a 1/4 mile along a lovely tree-lined path. The path was dappled with shadows and the trees were formed an arch over the path from both sides. The wall had been there long enough to have gathered moss, especially along the top. We wondered what could be on the other side to require such a long wall (far longer than any other one we'd seen).

This is Cason. He and his sister, Caylee, arrived at the rescue with parvovirus. Thanks to you, we were able to cover the intensive care they needed to survive. We’re thrilled to report that these two little warriors beat parvo, made full recoveries, and are now adopted ❤️‍🩹

This was almost a monochrome photo of a very rocky beach without post processing. The gray ocean and a mosty overcast sky are on the upper right. A dark bolder and gray slate rocks are in the foreground. The upper left side is a gray, tall, and long cliff. The cliff is the source of the rocks and fossils on the beach.

#TurtleTuesday finishes its celebration of this banner year for Eastern Box Turtles in our woods with a turtle that turned up two different times (and also once in 2022). #photography #turtles #Indiana

This turtle is moving down a trail. It has a distinct pattern of dots that makes it easier to identify.

The same turtle a couple of weeks later. The shell is dulled by a dirt coating. It might've been estimating (burying itself in dirt and becoming dormant) during some extended hot days.

Standing in the Rodin Museum seven years ago today, I looked out at the gardens through a very old window. The glass had bubbles and was not uniform. So I took a picture of the gardens and another wing of the building through the wavy glass, or I took a picture of the wavy glass with the garden and museum in the background.

The Welch Trail takes the hiker through hills, ravines, up a sandstone cliff face, and through old growth forest. The Two Falls Trail is a hilly hike that has views of the lake as well as two ephemeral waterfalls. This photo is on the Welch Trail passing by the top of the cliff. This is the North Cape on Prince Edward Island. At low tide, it stretches about 1.2 miles (2 km) into the ocean and is the longest reef in North America. The little dots seen at the end of the reef are the reward for the walk.

The end of the reef was full of gulls and cormorants. Also present is a seal that is doing an imitation of a mermaid. There were more seals but not conveniently near the birds.

A #memorial #garden in #Morton-in-Marsh is dedicated to Diana Rowden. She was stationed for a time near this village. Rowden was sent into occupied France during WW2. After her capture she was executed. #England, #United_Kingdom #photography #Support_Public_Lands

The mistflower is a member of the aster family. The blue blooms look more like starburst fireworks than stars to me.
