fur affinity has been running for 21 years, is one of the largest archives of queer art online, and one of the few art sites that has not switched to some kind of infinite feed bullshit and it's being strangled over "adult" art. suspiciously wealthy furries now is your time to paypig for culture

What makes this situation frustrating is that the bar for what advertisers consider “adult content” is very very low. For example they consider plus size characters, two characters hugging, and “barbie doll nudity” to be adult content, despite these being normal everyday things that are not adult at all. This is why you may see other sites with restrictions on how characters can’t be posed or dressed “too provocatively.”

We receive a daily list of items that they have flagged as violations and have to sort through them. If they’re legitimate violations, we re-rate them. If they aren’t, we don’t touch them. Submissions that are not violations of our policies are still held against us.

We have had many email conversations, Zoom calls, and even an in-person meeting with representatives to help resolve this to no avail.

TLDR: Fur Affinity's advertising partners are demanding that they ban adult content. Sciggles and FA want to firmly tell them to go fuck themselves. If they're going to be able to afford to do that, they need the community's help. Pitch in. Keep furry weird. www.furaffinity.net/journal/1143...

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default. Here's how to turn it off. First go to the hamburger menu in the upper left corner

Please keep putting pressure on PayPal. Stories like this are becoming more and more common. Artists don’t deserve to lose their source of income over payment processors being puritanical/anti-small business.

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

Artists, what's your favorite part to draw? quote this post! I am very normal about wings, the sky and flying creatures.

A watercolor-gouache painting depicting Louhi (an original dragon character) flying up in the the starry sky, his fur sparkling like the night sky that is framing him.

A watercolor-gouache painting depicting a rider on a devil bat (original characters) emerging from clouds dyed in orange sunset light, soaring above the cloudbed in front of them.

A watercolor-gouache painting depicting a rider on a devil bat (original characters) flying together through clouds, the bat's wings swiping the cloud surface and the rider expending their arm to touch the clouds as well.

Sharing with ALT text for those who aren't aware of the ongoing real world implications for trans people in the U.S. "I'm afraid I could be arrested if I travel to that state..."

r/trans
u/RedRhodes13012⚫ 4h
Seeing people deflate when I explain simple facts of my reality bums me out.
Vent
"No, I can't go on that cruise to Italy with you, because I'm struggling to get a passport that doesn't put me in danger. I'm scared I might have trouble getting home."
"Yes, I'm looking at other job opportunities/leaving my position working at school, which I love so much. It's becoming unsafe for people like me to work with children - I got a death threat the other day."
"Will the doctor/therapist/etc. you're recommending be safe for someone like me?"
"Before I meet your parents, I need to know if they know about me. Will I be safe?"
"I'm afraid I could be arrested if I travel to that state for your wedding and need to use the restroom at the venue, I'm sorry."
Seeing it actually register on people's faces that this is my life- that these policies are real and affect real people they know and love- is a really bitter pill. On one hand, it's sad to have to break such depressing news. And on the other hand, it feels so isolating and infuriating that people who love me apparently have no clue any of this is happening unless I take the time to inform them.
Just needed to get that out. Thanks for listening.
