This is so real. The shit people would say to my white mother was so heinous that she cut off multiple friendships within days of the attacks. A lot of people asking if my dad knew the hijackers or about The Plan. Oh, and my mom thought he’d died in the towers while being asked all of this.

The day after 9/11, family friends, who did not know, where at the house and openly talking about how all Arabs and Muslims in the US should be rounded up into camps. I was 12 years old. Taylor Lorenz listed out all the generative AI apps she uses for Substack, including Elon Musk’s Grok, and is shocked her followers are mad. She wants to have it both ways: to present herself as critical and progressive while still getting to take the same immoral actions as people who don’t.

I would take this outrage more seriously if the ppl engaged in it were directing ANY similar criticisms at ANY other big consumer tech journalists, (all of whom have been open abt the Al tools they use), but they do not. Those journos can openly use Al tools all day & not a peep!

The way many if not most people respond to women coming forward with sexual assault allegations shows me that they don’t want sexual violence to be exposed. They want victims to be silent. They don’t want to deal with or even have to hear the truth. This is rape culture.
