Nature E-i-C @magdalenaskipper.bsky.social: "peer reviewers are much harsher critics...Editors are more likely to say let's publish it [as is]" Important in the context of accusations it's "journals" demanding more experiments of authors. youtu.be/Q04PAohvSYU?...

Editors and reviewers, just like authors, are quite busy and are trying their best. Being rude with us editors helps no one. Being understanding, on the other hand, goes a long way. Thank you for your patience.

While I don't agree with everything on the thread, I acknowledge that it is incredibly difficult to try to put together a story that happened over 70 years ago based on fragmented (and often quite biased) pieces of information. I thus sincerely value and appreciate what science historians are doing

Just want to emphasize here that Franklin *wasn't looking for the double helix." She was studying both the A and B forms b/c she was interested in the reversible transition between them. Quite a novel, interesting project. But she thought W&C bonkers w/ all their "secret of life!" stuff

arXiv’s new preprint submission cap divides opinion
Some hail preprint server’s two papers per month policy move for promoting ‘quality over quantity’, but others question cap’s scientific implications

Many argue that they use proxies for evaluation because "it would be impossible to read all of a candidate's papers". I wonder if some committees will start asking for PDFs, feeding them to an AI, and interacting with them for evaluation. Or just using AI tools for evaluation altogether.
