Ice in my coffee melted so loudly I remembered I have a social media presence. Working on lots of stuff — finishing up a writing class through UCLA that’s been amazing and excited to dive into the short I wrote for it.

and there are lots of other examples. how have stories from hmong creatives have you read? are you going to not read any of those because they're not also gay? like I GET it I do but I think it's limiting!! and it's frustrating to hear ANYBODY say they only want to read about themselves

Moodboard for A Sliver of Frost, an adult Chinese myth-inspired fantasy. Ethereal ink-wash mountains, mist, cranes, winter plum blossoms, a burning calligraphy scroll, a guqin, bamboo flute, and a sword in blood splattered snow surround the title. Two hands reach for one another through mist and silk, suggesting a star-crossed immortal-mortal romance. Themes include magic and music, sentient swords, Chinese mythology, and C-drama-inspired longing and destiny.

THIS REALITY AND THE NEXT

adult cozy fantasy
84,000 words

The Pitch: Longtime superheroes Aura-Man and The Diplomat are ready to retire. Together. But when revealing their new relationship to the media incites public panic and the collapse of all realities, they’re thrust into one last mission: save the multiverse from a collapse of their own making.

Comp titles: Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea (early retirement, live-in partnership); Somewhere Beyond the Sea (public expectations, defying stereotypes); Marvel Cinematic Universe (Tony/Steve dynamic, multiverse adventure); and Good Omens (partners through time, us against the world mentality)

The excerpt: Time trickled like molasses. Andres paced the hospital floor, just outside the operating room where they wouldn’t let him follow. His rage had nowhere to go but through his feet. He wished he had something or someone else to punch.
It was so, so stupid. A pack of armed men? That was who took down Aura-Man? The great Lyric Grae, who had wiped out armies of reanimated corpses, who had taken down alien snakes and stopped the planet from getting knocked off its axis. He’d survived deep space, the depths of the ocean, and seventy days alone in the desert. Lyric Grae had endured so much in his life of service to the world; he did not deserve to go down like this.

Andres blamed himself.

So pleased with our cabin and the supportive nature of camp! I wasn’t able to work on too much, but I still felt good when I could participate in stuff and I’ve loved chatting with everyone. Direwolves for life! So pumped to see people improving their stories and sharing wisdom.

Andres was rummaging through his suitcase in search of a particular shirt he wanted to wear to bed. “Just be naked,” Lyric suggested. “I promise I won’t take advantage. I just think that sometimes you need to air out your body. For the sake of science and magic.”

Mine came from my appreciation for superhero stories and boundless curiosity about what a quiet life would mean to celebrities bound up in battles. Can they actually be domestic? Do they want to be? What will people think if they give up the fight for each other? What else can the fight look like?

This week has been filled with fundraisers for youth arts programs and it fills me with joy as well as RAGE that we need to scramble so much just to survive. Access to the arts should be a given in all communities.

#CampRevPit #CRPDirewolves #CharacterFlaw Lyric is easy — he’s certain he can get away with any of his impulses. Andres on the other hand is far more internal. He puts duty above all else, which makes his priority anything but himself.

allison e. crisostomo @aecwrites.bsky.social · 24/04/2026

This is extremely relatable. I often imagined venturing out on horseback next to the car on these kind of drives.

allison e. crisostomo @aecwrites.bsky.social · 24/04/2026

While I do write mystery also, fantasy is my first and most steadfast love. It’s where I learned curiosity and empathy, applying the strange and fantastical worlds to my own perspective in real life. Fantasy is what kept me sane in the darkest times.

Right now my favorite scene is the True Love’s Kiss in the Arthurian universe, in which Lyric is just desperate to get his Andres to take over for Sir Andres so he freaks out and kisses him back into control.

#OneLineMC #CRPDirewolves #CampRevPit An early fight, Andres says to Lyric: “You have this really /adorable/ way of acting first and thinking later, and then you think you can joke your way out of it, you think you can just do whatever you want and apologize later.”

allison e. crisostomo @aecwrites.bsky.social · 22/04/2026

Between Lyric and Andres, I’d choose Lyric for the laughs and Andres for some damn stability. I’d love to fight back to back alongside either of them — except their multiversal counterparts in universe 4. Those guys are sick pricks.

150

allison e. crisostomo @aecwrites.bsky.social · 21/04/2026

Well, Lyric and Andres are retired thankyouverymuch, but they’ll always be Aura-Man and The Diplomat. Together they can handle any crisis — Lyric uses his energy blasts and Andres summons his strength to take down the beast!
