It's tempting to use the word "cowards" to describe the BBC producers and/or executive leaders who killed this segment on the killers of Hind Rajab. But the COWARDICE is systemic, not personal, and by no means limited to the media. It's the norm, not the exception. The correct word is COMPLICITY.

"When they go low, we go high" was a righteous and principled position to hold at the time. Those days are over. Sweep the leg. No mercy.

Props to Ken Burns for publicly acknowledging the limitations of his prior work. Side note: This reminds me of the no-smoking ad John Waters recorded for the Nuart Theatre in LA, which was still being played at the UC Theatre in Berkeley in the late 90s.

Every human on Earth belongs to a single biological species. Racism hinges on the false belief that physical differences have any inherent significance whatsoever. Building one's identity on claims of another's inferiority is a sign of pathological insecurity. White supremacy is weaksauce.

X is what's left when you drop the SE from SEX. This elision is not accidental: it's a Freudian parapraxis, a "motivated forgetting." The name itself tells us what the incels on X are trying to supress: In Spanish, "se" is a reflexive pronoun—meaning it's an action you only ever do to yourself.

The 21st-century klan wears red caps instead of white hoods, consumes Fox News and alt-right podcasts instead of The Searchlight and other klan publications, and has traded secrecy for center stage. It has achieved what the 1920s klan could only aspire to: control over every branch of government.

Targeting noncombatants is a war crime. Journalists are noncombatants. Aid workers are noncombatants. The overwhelming majority of people living in neighborhoods that have been flattened by the IDF are noncombatants. There is no justification, legal, moral or otherwise, for these heinous crimes.

I find it incredible — as in literally not credible — that when the president orders fast food delivery in DC, the driver who shows up is the same person who's shown up in multiple videos with Rs from multiple states. Grammy may be a gig worker, but she's also on the payroll.

Police keep raiding reporters without telling courts about the Privacy Protection Act of 1980. An update to the act from Sen. Wyden and Rep. Balint would put a stop to it

Alt: A man with long hair and glasses, wearing a lab coat and tie, laughs nervously in a scene from the 1996 film Independence Day. Dr. Brackish Okun, played by Brent Spiner, is the eccentric chief scientist at Area 51 where he studies aliens the US government has captured and tries to figure out their technology.
