It means we need to develop really clear boundaries for work and non work, otherwise work will always spill over into the time that is available. #StressBites #Teachappy 041

Adrian Bethune @adrianbethune.bsky.social · 06/05/2026When you are anxious about a performance-related task, it can really help to tell yourself 'I am excited'. This is known as anxiety reappraisal & it has been studied by Dr Alison Brooks . Studies show that reframing nerves as excitement improves our performance. #StressBites #stress #Teachappy 010

None of this should be at the expense of well being. P8 is the profit margin for the shareholders at the expense of the teachers and the products (students). It’s a complete nonsense and there are mounting casualties. 111

Reposted by Adrian Bethune Dr. Who @drw66.bsky.social · 09/06/2025One can say they want a knowledge rich curriculum but in my experience it's the opposite, it's a very dumbed down curriculum. What kids really need is the motivation and skill to think for themselves and to be problem solvers. Critical thinking skills have fallen by the wayside. 1112
Reposted by Adrian Bethune Jenny M @abbyaug.bsky.social · 08/06/2025Parents want a happy child before all else. To have silent corridors, detentions for not having a pen, being unable to take a blazer off if hot, locked toilets, not even being free at lunchtime, but having to have a set discussion & and then get told "but look at their P8 scores" is a nonsense! 151
Adrian Bethune @adrianbethune.bsky.social · 08/06/2025🧵 One of the biggest myths in education since I started teaching in 2010 is this: The knowledge-rich curriculum The myth is that knowing more will improve the quality of children's lives. It's built on the lie that knowledge = grades = good job = happiness. It's a lie. 188321
