In honor of the new MechWarrior 5 trailer, I have made this delightful meme. Please enjoy.

Victor Ian Steiner Davion looking up at an Elemental with a caption underneath him that reads "Me, Asking if I can buy more BattleTech minis" and a caption under the Elemental that reads "My wife". Fun fact, my wife is actually taller than me.

Day 3 of #Mechtober and it's time to talk about video games! Honestly, while the books got me into #BattleTech, video games kept me there. While I haven't always had time, money, or a local group to play on tabletop, I can always fire up my PC and travel to the Inner Sphere. (Check the alt text!)

Ah, the one that started it all. As a young teenage, fresh off Way Of The Clans, being able to fight as a Jade Falcon was too cool. It may have started with the book as I said, but this game is what kept me in.

MechWarrior 5 Clans' expansion Ghost Bear Flash Storm is arguably the MechWarrior series best narrative campaign to date. And I am not just saying that as a die-hard Ghost Bear fan who thinks Elementals are super-awesome and commanding them is the next best thing to an actual Elemental game which they should totally make I have ideas.

...whew. Anyhoo, moving on.

One of my all-time favorites, Harebrained Schemes' excellent BattleTech game. Not only is the campaign itself an outstanding masterpiece, but the core gameplay loop itself is really enjoyable. I can make it as tough or as easy as I like. Because sometimes you want a challenge, and sometimes you just want to flatten half a company with a single artillery shell.

$MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries. Starting you in 3015 and running all the way up to 3060(as of October 6th this year), this allows you to be a part of all of the major events of the Inner Sphere. The 4th Succession War, the Ronin Wars, the War of 3039, the Clan Invasion, the fracture of the Federated Commonwealth, and soon, the reformation of the Star League. There's simply no other BattleTech game that packs in this much history and it just keeps getting better. Hats off to PGI.$

When I was in training in the Navy, I overslept, had to have a classmate come and wake me up and get me to class on time. For that, I had to write a 2500 word essay on why that was bad. That this was also the same punishment for people who committed a seven-hour sexual assault is INSANE.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

A female Elemental from BattleTech. Look, the armor's unisex, okay? But there's a badass lady in there, I promise.

Russia occupies Oleshky. Around 2,000 civilians remain and run out of food, medicine, water and electricity. Russia, as the occupying power, is responsible for facilitating humanitarian relief. Ukraine found another way in: its forces delivered ~4 tons of food by drone to 100 locations across town.
