#onmyturntable Marconi Union - Signals (2022). Super cool double crystal clear discs, with a bunch of great atmospheric post-rock tracks. My first Marconi album, and based on this, I'll definitely be looking for more. #vinylsky

Signals (2022) by Marconi Union on the Tech 12.

Crystal clear discs like these are always a little tricky to get the needle in the right place, since it's hard to see where the edge of the disc is. It's a bit easier to aim for the run-in if you look edge-on with the disc.

#transitthoughts Do at-grade CTA tracks need snow management, or do the trains run often enough that they keep the tracks clear on their own?

#onmyturntable The Dead Milkmen - Big Lizard In My Backyard (2014 reissue). Classic debut album, with the awesome "Bitchin' Camaro". Spent hours listening to this in my youth, super stoked to get hold of this cool reissue. Still even remember most of the lyrics. ❤️❤️ #vinylsky

Big Lizard In My Backyard by The Dead Milkmen (2014 reissue) on the Tech 12. Disc is a super cool transparent green.

First side is labeled "Front Yard", and second side is of course "Back Yard". Love it when bands are playful with their packaging.

Wage theft is the largest form of theft in the United States, dwarfing other kinds of theft. Companies steal up to $50 billion or more from workers annually, with only a tiny fraction ever recovered and paid to employees. This perpetuates income and wealth inequalities. www.epi.org/publication/...

Wage Theft (when employers steal from employees)

Minimum wage violations: $23.20 billion
Overtime violations: $8.80 billion
Rest break violations: $4.00 billion
Off-the-clock violations: $3.20 billion

Other types of theft

Larceny: $5.30 billion
Burglary: $4.10 billion
Auto theft: $3.80 billion
Robbery: $0.34 billion

*all $ amounts are per year
*all data is for the U.S.

#onmyturntable Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery (1973). It's a gloomy day here in the PNW, seems ideal to get my prog on. It took me a long time to get the pun from "Karn Evil 9". #vinylsky

Brain Salad Surgery (1973) by Emerson, Lake & Palmer on the Tech 12. Some iconic artwork by H. R. Giger, with his signature biological-meets-mechanical skulls. The jacket slits down the middle and the sides fold open.

This is a release from New Zealand. It's a cutout too, so perhaps didn't sell so well there?

The inside of the foldout part with some less-disturbing H. R. Giger artwork, of a feminine-looking face with eyes closed. The poster with liner notes and the inner sleeve are peeking out to the right of the inner art panel.

The liner notes poster, folded out. Lyrics on the top three panels, around circular holes which mirror the circle on the front on the jacket. Portraits of the boys on the bottom three panels, Keith Emerson on the left, Greg Lake in the middle, and Carl Palmer on the right.

The liner notes, folded in half. The skull art from the jacket is on each panel, and the circular hole in each shows the eyes and nose of each of the band members from the unfolded poster.
