I looked into this when it started being used as an attack line against him and the evidence is that he once criticized Michelle Obama's initiative to tackle childhood obesity because it didn't go far enough to address societal issues including things like food deserts. GDC 2026 attendance is down 33% YoY. Here's a chart comparing recent years. 2020-2022 were impacted by COVID-19. This could be because of the rebrand not being received well. Alternatively, there may be another reason why attendance declined at the event hosted in the United States.

This is an awesome idea even just centering the sustainability aspect of it too. It’s so easy to see electronics and one-time consumables. This would be a great teaching opportunity to show budding cyberpunks how to create unique things out of e-waste and save precious tech from the garbage.
