Every time I read these bios and see a slam dunk hall of famer with maybe 2 first team all pros and 3 second team, it drives home how difficult it is to earn those types of honors. These guys (non-QBs) really are at their peak for relatively "short" windows it seems (from my casual fan standpoint).

Something unprecedented happened during my visit to the Gulf. For the first time in 20 years in Congress, I was denied entry to U.S. military facilities and even meetings with military leaders. An order from Hegseth - that applies to both parties - to hide the cost of the war.

How do I know Hegseth’s order to deny access to bases to members of Congress is about a cover up, not about safety? Because I asked for a military briefing at the embassy as a substitute and was told the policy prohibited military leaders in the region from even talking to me.

Maybe efficiency isn't the end all / be all for civilization, and that some level of perceived inefficiency is worth the immense benefits of a democratic society. Nuanced thought that is not maniacally focused on one single outcome seems to be beyond the capability of yet another crypto bro loser.

the cheering after the completely nonsensical "let 'em take out Los Angeles, let 'em take out San Diego" is really one of those moments that perfectly crystalizes how these ghouls do not deserve pity nor rehabilitation into the body politic. Crush their movement and drive them from power forever.

Auto transcription (I was curious, sharing for access. Agree this is fantastic.)
Screenshot of a transcript. It says: “Exactly right, but I want to say a couple things. One thing about cities that I found in this reporting: cities are very unfairly labeled as these problem centers by Donald Trump and others. And one thing is worth remembering: if you look at the population of well, all people in cities, particularly people who come to cities from elsewhere, but particularly homeless and other vulnerable people in cities, look at youth homeless. A pretty large chunk of those people who end up in cities were failed in some other parts of this country. Okay, in the fraction of youth homeless who are LGBTQ, whatever, pretty high. So there are a lot of families in this country who fail the first duty of family, which is to love your kids more than any other thing, and there's a lot of families in this country that look at some verse in some book, and their child's face, and choose theSecond screenshot says: “verse in the book over their child's face, and drive their children out of Nebraska or out of Florida or out of Idaho, and those kids come to San Francisco, and those kids come to New York, and those kids go to Chicago, and we have friends giving dinners with them. You live in L.A. You are surrounded by people who have those kind of stories, and so cities. Every time someone is sleeping on a subway bench in a city, the rest of America can sort of say, "Ah, look at these cities.” But we are holding a lot of your people who you fail to love and take care of.

Isn't checking your sources and validating a statement such as "I was a lifelong Democrat but then..." kind of a big part of journalism? Shouldn't you put a cursory effort into verifying something that is central to the entire point of your article?
