Born on this day: Scottie Pippen is an American former professional basketball player. He won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and two Olympic gold medals. Considered one of the greatest small forwards ever, he is a Hall of Fame inductee.
James Doohan as Montgomery “Scotty” Scott on Star Trek (1966), wearing a red Starfleet engineering uniform with gold braid and insignia, holding a communicator in the Enterprise’s control room, surrounded by colorful indicator lights and futuristic panels. Try not to get too upset over this sports/sci-fi mashup, this is all in good fun.

Oooh, Copper has released the 2.0 version of Charlie, its electric induction range. It now can plug into a normal 120V outlet! Bigger battery, more power. NYC is gonna buy a bunch of these for public housing, help bring the cost down.

The regulation A.I. needs is not a million hoops that only the most well funded players can afford, but simply unlimited, absolute liability. If your A.I. results in any harm whatsoever, you whole company goes under. Watch the funding dry up.

@cinebox@masto.hackers.town One of the cooler things I have seen is at the Uni bus loop they have a practice bike rack. It's set up on a wall at the same height and so on, and you can try mounting your bike a few times to see how the thing works. Maybe the bus system where you are at have something similar?

"On the acceptance of GenAI" smallsheds.garden/blog/2026/on-the-…
By using GenAI:
I accept the models were trained on stolen data.
I accept that the data was labeled by exploited workers.
I accept the environmental costs of the data centers running these models.
I accept that I am outsourcing some of my skills to a company.
I accept these companies don’t have a viable business model.
I accept that I am granting more power to big tech and their vision for the world.
I accept that I am granting more power to the United States.
I accept that all this effort could have been spent elsewhere.

If any of these facts are new to you, you haven’t been doing your due diligence.
