I’m grateful to largely be in a place where I can stop masking hard. I have accepting and forward thinking people in my life. I know it’s not like that for everyone. But I’m frankly just glad to know myself better. I actually feel optimistic about my future.

Dropping the mask has been the biggest thing. I did not realize how much energy I was burning trying to present myself in a way that’s acceptable to others. I’m also beginning to understand just how overstimulated I can get & have begun conversations with loved ones establishing some boundaries.

Once again, I’m not claiming anything officially until I get a diagnosis - which unfortunately could take a while because money. But talking to loved ones & getting some resources - it’s looking very possible I was deep in autistic burnout. I’m just happy to realize it before it could get worse.

I’ve been mindfully eating better, losing weight, working out - things that are supposed to increase my well being - yet weren’t. I’ve already shared I discovered I was masking heavily. Two weeks since stopping, I feel the best I have in years! My voice is powerful again & I have my range back!

I had a mountain of auditions & totally killed it! About a year ago, I noticed a decline in my vocal health. I thought it was allergies, then exhaustion from exercise, then reflux. Addressing each thing helped a little, but not much. My energy was dropping and I was chronically exhausted.

That’s the reason I can’t bring myself to play Warhammer or Digimon in public games… 😅

Still have no taste for actors bragging or gossiping though. Ya’ll still need to calm down a little.

Adam Michael Rowe @adammichaelrowe.com · 26/09/2026

I’ve intentionally stopped masking when I go in studio & I’m seeing a lot of benefit. But it also makes me understand now that other neurodivergent actors were likely doing the same thing & I felt they were being rude or egotistical. I’ve made comments and I apologize for that!

I’ve really come to like Genesis Owusu. I get excited whenever I hear his tunes in a commercial or something.

I’d listen to their direction and be polite and professional, yet everything I did would still be wrong. In the cases where they barely directed me at all, I’d opt to self direct and do what I feel like! That would also be wrong. 😅

Adam Michael Rowe @adammichaelrowe.com · 24/09/2026

As I wait on an official diagnosis - autism, adhd, whatever - I’ve reflected on repeated toxic experiences I’ve had with specific directors. They communicated very poorly/vaguely yet demanded specific results. I wonder if they would have given me more grace if they knew I was neurodivergent.

This was literally me when when I first visited my wife in Cali. Listen, I grew up in small town CT. Anything new was exciting. I feel spoiled with the DFW food scene now.

Found a fantastic little scene today. I only had my phone with me, but I'll definitely be returning with a camera!

I’m feeling better recently than I have in years. Just learning things about myself, unpacking, thawing out, coming up for air - all the analogies. I will eventually be productive again in my way, but for now, recovery has been exquisite.

Hate to break it to ya pal, but Super Mario Bros. 2 isn't an original game. Yea. Blew your mind, didn't I? It's actually a reskin of the Japanese game Sonic & Knuckles. That's why Peach can glide, cause of her dreadlocks.

I have a bunch of extra plastic D20 cases from the Questers mini figs, so my wife took some paint and resin to them and made cute little… terrariums… scenes… dioramas? I was gonna give extra Digimon figs away but she decided she wanted them as the centerpiece. 😂
