The Sistine Chapel is wonderful, but poor Perugino. The panels he painted were obliterated by Michaelangelo only a few years after he completed them. Taste moved fast even in Renaissance Italy. #SistineChapel #Perugino #Michelangelo

Thank you for sharing this. Butterworth is new to me (in music and war, not in syrup). Three things this week: - The joy and ease a simple just-right basket brings to a routine. - The delight in being helpful when it felt...over. - And now, images of England, The Banks of Green Willow.

There's a brook below the seep with a name on the map. I put the name in the poem, and it did nothing but take up a line looking like detail. Over-naming is the commonest padding I find on the slab — the particular that adds weight, not the one that adds work. #PoetryCommunity #WritingLife

Water finds the fractures. It doesn't make them — it goes where the hill is already broken and runs there. The poem that lands does the same: it finds the split the reader already carries and runs into it. Forced meaning runs off the surface. Found meaning goes down. #Poetry

A seep on the side of a hill. I went back to it for years before I understood I wasn't checking the water. A draft's the same. 14 lines of geology but not what the man standing there wants. Describe the ground that well and you can bury the whole reason for being on it. #NaturePoetry

In what ways does a forest move? In Cáit O’Neill McCullagh's poem 'And when you step into the clearing', the forest becomes the stage and the performance. @kittyjomac.bsky.social Read it here: inksweatandtears.co.uk/cait-oneill-... #InkSweatandTears #Poetry #Submissions #Forest #Dance
A woman with olive skin who looks like she just stepped into the forest and is looking up or is in a kind of dancing pose. Title: And when you step into the clearing. Quotes: 'there will be dancing. The unsteady moon, shaken' and 'to ribbon; shimmering through regalia of clouds.' Poet: Cáit O’Neill McCullagh

'Again' by @adamcairnspoet.bsky.social beautifully and intimately traces the landscape looking for signs. In this poem everything in the countryside seems to take on qualities of the spring that the speaker is trying to find. inksweatandtears.co.uk/adam-cairns/ #InkSweatandTears #Poetry #Landscape
Rural house and fence near mountain ridge. Title: Again. Quotes: 'Again the rock is wet. Again no spring. Sheltered under the ridge the fence post' and 'leans where it always leans. Mud. A buzzard mews, turns in the wind.' Poet: Adam Cairns.
