I am irrationally choosing to believe that Miroshnichenko isn't in the lineup because he's already a lock for the roster and Lindgren isn't in the lineup because he's going straight to waivers.

I just want to say, as much as many of us (myself included) would love to see Stevenson win the job and stick around, choosing Lindgren would not be an egregious decision. At the end of the day, it's a 10-year vet vs an undrafted 27 year old with 5 NHL games under his belt.

I was almost expecting a suspension here. It was obviously an awful cross-check but I don't actually think he meant for it to go that high and maybe PS agrees (although I don't trust them to ever make a reasonable ruling anyways). Still need to control yourself there though and this is deserved.

A few clips from the first period of Caps-Bruins: Hutson (44) was solid but he does need to be more disciplined on defense. The awry pass to start the clip isn't a big deal, but he is prone to getting caught high in the zone when things are less structured and it resulted in a good chance here.

Don’t love the initial PP1 look (Ovi, Strome, Wilson, Dubois, Chychrun) tbh. Still feels like zone entries will be the problem, I’d much rather dump Dubois for a guy like Tuch or Kyrou with a little more flash and better puck skills to drive transition play and bring a little more creativity.

I assumed Leonard would be the one bumped to LW over Tuch but I do really like these lines. I'm already salivating over Tuch-Dubois-Wilson and giving Leonard the primary offensive zone starts is probably the best way to maximize his value early on.

Capitals announce they've re-signed forward Justin Sourdif to an eight-year, $50.8 million contract extension. Sourdif’s contract, which begins in 2027-28, has an AAV of 6.35 million. So, Capitals get Sourdif and Ryan Leonard (8 years, $84 million) locked up today.

Drake Batherson feels like a very realistic player comp/median outcome for Leonard, and he just signed for 8 x $10.75M. This is Batherson's second contract so it's not an apples to apples comparison but Leonard's upside roughly balances out his comparative risk and gives him very similar value IMO.

Big fan of everything Carbs has said about the lineup so far. Jenner was never going to be a full-time center on this team; Sourdif's development is too important, his tenacity up the middle is legitimately unmatched on this team anyways, and Jenner's style of play shouldn't deteriorate on the wing.
