This is solid work from Columbus though IMO. Marchenko wasn't going to stay anyways, you clear out some bulk and bring in (presumably) some depth players you like, and Knies is obviously a great player who is locked in on a good deal and immediately slots in as your second best forward.

Yeah I wonder if the front office would go back and keep him with hindsight. Obviously a lot of people were worried (rightly so) but with so many goalies going through waivers it seemed like there was a good chance we’d be able to sneak him through. Better hope Lindgren holds up.

I am irrationally choosing to believe that Miroshnichenko isn't in the lineup because he's already a lock for the roster and Lindgren isn't in the lineup because he's going straight to waivers.

Yeah I was moreso saying that I wouldn't be surprised nor outraged at them for picking Lindgren due to his experience, but I would still prefer Stevenson. 100% agree on that, 13/7/3 would be great if we didn't already have three waiver-eligible forwards fighting for two spots let alone one.

For sure, the one thing I'm worried about is how quickly this can turn from a "good problem to have" scenario to Stevenson getting claimed and Lindgren losing it again and all of a sudden having to rely on either his corpse or Gibson or Bjorklund down the stretch.

I can definitely see that, again I'd still prefer Stevenson but I think there's still a lot of trust in Charlie among the coaching staff. In a perfect world they carry three goalies and let them battle it out but it's pretty clear the forward situation isn't going to allow that to happen.

I just want to say, as much as many of us (myself included) would love to see Stevenson win the job and stick around, choosing Lindgren would not be an egregious decision. At the end of the day, it's a 10-year vet vs an undrafted 27 year old with 5 NHL games under his belt.

I was almost expecting a suspension here. It was obviously an awful cross-check but I don't actually think he meant for it to go that high and maybe PS agrees (although I don't trust them to ever make a reasonable ruling anyways). Still need to control yourself there though and this is deserved.

Miro (63) has gained some explosiveness, but his tendencies still need some fine-tuning IMO. I think he just lacks the high-end vision to confidently attempt plays under pressure; he was eyeing the net here from the get-go, and I'd like to see some more patience and scanning in situations like this.

I had always thought of Alex Tuch (89) as a grindier power forward type, but this guy has some moves. He was untouchable on the power play all night and recovers from the rare mistake incredibly well. I'm not sure what Spencer Carbery is thinking having this guy on the second unit.

Petr Sikora (66) is tenacious on the forecheck, and you can tell his pro experience in Europe has set the foundation for a really composed, well-rounded player. His footwork and ability to finish plays down low have impressed me so far.

A few clips from the first period of Caps-Bruins: Hutson (44) was solid but he does need to be more disciplined on defense. The awry pass to start the clip isn't a big deal, but he is prone to getting caught high in the zone when things are less structured and it resulted in a good chance here.

Brodzinski has just looked so tenacious (in the offensive zone most surprisingly) to me although Frank probably has the edge for now? But Brodzinski can play center which they might value more. I really don't know though.

100%, the kid is only 22 and I'd be excited to watch him develop if we didn't just construct the deepest forward group in the league. I bet if we were shit and could afford to thrust him into a top six role he would figure something out eventually (maybe?), but there just isn't a role for him here.

Don’t love the initial PP1 look (Ovi, Strome, Wilson, Dubois, Chychrun) tbh. Still feels like zone entries will be the problem, I’d much rather dump Dubois for a guy like Tuch or Kyrou with a little more flash and better puck skills to drive transition play and bring a little more creativity.
