These dayes the greatest danger to the future of universityes ys universityes. Remembir the missioun, remembir the studentes, remembir those who have come bifor and will arryve aftir, remembir teachinge and learninge and dialogue. A universitye ys much more than a corporation wearinge a mortarboard.

Do not run educacioun lyke a businesse. A businesse ys meant to make a profit. Educacioun ys meant to make the future. A businesse ys ther to deliver a goode or servyce to customers. Educacioun ys ther to empower citizens. A businesse ys for private benefit. Educacioun ys for the common good.

The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me
And I wake in the night at the least sound
In fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake rests
in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green are outside, as Green frowns at an unwelcome noise.
Green: Ugh, someone's watching videos on full volume.

Green turns to Blue, who calmly hands him a pair of earbuds.
Green: Do you have my spare earbuds?
Blue: Here.

Taking the earbuds, Green starts swinging them by the end of the wire like a slungshot. As he lets them loose, they hit the video-watching stranger on the back of the head with enough force to startle them and drop the phone.

A real post from the real Sesame Street fb account proclaims "Oscar has been in his 'stinky' era since 1969. #HotTrashSummer." It includes a graphic of Oscar the Grouch popping out of his trash can (n.b. a TARDIS) on a bold salmony-orange background, with the title "Hot Trash Summer."

Big fan of Warren on many things, but this is worryingly capitulating language. We don’t need to tax data centers. We need to tear them down. AI is incredibly unpopular in polls, and democrats are going to blow that potential advantage like this.
