I said something about a Monty Python skit to a class of middle schoolers the other day, and one of them looked up "the movie" and asked if it had been a real thing, and I said, "Definitely a real thing. Several Gen X men made quoting it a solid 70% of their personality."

OMG! I was just at Mayo & they didn't mention that yet (of course I didn't specifically discuss trials). Wouldn't that be amazing!!!

Thank you for this message! I used to keep my black cat (indoor/outdoor, but I was a kid in the 80s and didn't know better) inside on Halloween. We had some great pix of her with me when I was dressed up as a witch, though...

Yes, some can be sedating. Tell your provider and maybe they can adjust your dose (?). It's hard to hit the sweet spot where you feel good but are awake to do normal activities. Good luck!

That is a gorgeous collection and it's great to have friends that knit. I was in a store that sold Dales of Norway sweaters the other day and those are so beautiful and so expensive!

I really miss those days of handouts and overheads and everyone taking notes on the handouts or in their notebooks. I was able to hold onto that in my Old English & Old Norse classes for a long time & I feel that's why they were so pedagogically successful (& popular!). It was just us & the texts.

God in heaven (my first spontaneous response). I'm so sorry. I wish you all could split and join the good part of the American Episcopal Church. The new Presiding Bp seems good, but we'll loan you Emeritus Bp Curry for a morale-raiser. Thinking of you standing up to this.

I saw a man yesterday who had that same panicked, pop-eyed, just-got-arrested-for-possession-of-a-controlled-substance look that Kash Patel always has, and I think it was just his face! Patel seems to deserve being cursed with Resting Bad Trip Face, but I felt bad for the random guy at the airport.

You do have stuff set up for where your kid would go, right? That is so important, though not fun to think about. Especially important if you don't want your kid to go to your next of kin. My parents wanted me to go to their friends instead of their siblings, so they were always up on that stuff.

I had a college freshman at one point whose family kept taking him out to babysit his nieces and nephews. On quiz days. He was first-gen and his family just didn't get it. They were driving 50+ miles each way to get him for this and I didn't know WTH to do about it.
