I finished a big #dnd project last night! For the last two weeks, I've been writing up the lore and character options for my post-disaster fairytale campaign setting! So my temp job has set me up to think they'll hire me on after my contract, ever since i started 3 months ago. But I'm getting let go today. Yesterday they said someone who's been on leave of absence for months is returning. And they're hiring someone else full time in what i was primarily doing.

I'm going to reboot the campaign with the new players at the center, taking place somewhere else in my setting. The burnout was hitting hard too for me without the characters I'd gotten to love. It felt wrong for their quest to continue without them receiving the rewards of it.

I've had to make a tough decision and put one of my #dnd campaigns on hiatus. After playing for three years regularly, scheduling conflicts have come up for our established players. We also added in some brand new players to the group, and they've now outnumbered my regulars.

A though on Nolan's #TheOdyssey Was Helen scarred as a punishment, to not be confused for her murderous twin, or as a final act of autonomy rejecting her scapegoat beauty? I like to think it was a choice of hers most, a penance to remember the cruelty and devastation both sides did in her name.

I just saw it in IMAX last night, albeit from a bad seat. Not everyone is a studied academic or even a Greek mythology geek. Not everyone is hung up on the "canon" of what was a poem retold only by oral tradition for thousands of years. Hundreds have sang the song before Purists are never happy.

Redwall wouldn't be an excellent series without chapters upon chapters of what Brian Jacques thought adorable little medieval animals would cook for banquets in between battles. 😆 Tolkien set the mold with LOTR because he first wanted to map out the migration and shifts of his elf language
