I’ve received a lot of encouraging messages from homies I grew up with in Inglewood since this was published—something I didn’t expect. I’m told a lot happens in Inglewood that goes unreported.

As journalists reporting on state repression today, we stand on the shoulders of giants like Ruben Salazar. What he saw in the 60s about how the working class was treated is what we see today, and why we want to report on it," said @abemarquez.bsky.social, who spoke on a panel about Salazar. 🧵6/7

Why the death of a reporter 55 years ago matters to those covering LA protests today
Ruben Salazar died 55 years ago while covering a protest in LA. His case illustrates the dangers journalists face today as police fire “less lethal munitions” into crowds.

The United States, the U.K., and much of Europe are helping Israel slowly exterminate Gaza’s 2 million Palestinians. Palestine’s envoy to the U.N. explains how Israel is deliberately blocking the most basic humanitarian aid needed for survival, more than eight months into a so-called ceasefire.

"Two million people who have endured an atrocious assault and a genocide for three years including one million children...

Our people are being denied even the most elementary healthcare, education, access to water, sanitation...

These are people. These are families. These are lives. These are children. They thought they were saved. They are still barely surviving...

There is no excuse for this manufactured human catastrophe. Ending it should be unconditional."
