I’d like to learn more about maps, PencilKit, AttributedString, and get some UIKit fundamentals under my belt for when I need to dip into that. So more experimentation, and hopefully shipping my first app before the end of the year!

I see people saying stuff like "why criticize Substack but give other problematic platforms (like, say, YouTube) a pass? Which is a fair point. Thing is, YouTube is a quasi-monopoly for sharable video. Substack wants to have a newsletter monopoly but *isn't there yet*. And it should never happen.

I cannot truly explain how it feels to have previously been a contributing writer to a paper that has now dedicated itself to destroying my community. I want to say it's weird, or scary. But it's more than that. It's radically destabilizing. My past and present selves don't recognize each other.

Wow, this looks so cool! And thank you for compiling everything into a playlist. I did notice that part 10 was placed out of order in the playlist, and it’s hard to see which part is what on mobile with how the titles are organized. Can’t wait to give this all a watch when I have the chance.

In all seriousness though, Discord consistently has the best voice and video experience for me out of any app. Period. But the interface for accessing that has been abysmal from the get go. Never been able to use it as a text chat app.

The last few times I’ve had trouble sleeping, throwing a YouTube video on about systemd has worked great to knock me out. Trouble is now I’m starting to take an interest in it and the whole strategy backfired last night. Stayed awake through an entire conference talk.

Shoot, maybe even extending the Tide east to the oceanfront and north to Ghent and ODU. Or BRT to the airport. Or up-zoning all the park and rides to include walkable parks, shops, grocery stores, and housing. Don’t you see the slippery slope?

Hold on now. Let’s not get too carried away. What about the widening projects on 64? What’s the point of those if you’re providing people with a fast, clean alternative? Next you’re going to suggest regional service from Norfolk -> Newport News -> Williamsburg -> Richmond.

You know what we do on the Discord server I co-administrate comes across someone who’s been consistently a problem on other sites/servers? We either ban them or preemptively disinvite them from the server. It’s not that hard. We have to protect the people who depend on us to moderate.
