Presidents Park opened in Virginia in 2004, but went under only a few years later in 2010. The 20-foot tall busts of US presidents that were the park's main attraction were moved to a rural field, where they were left to decay. More at www.abandonedamerica.us/the-presiden...

Once the roof's integrity was compromised by vandals stealing copper roof fixtures, and not addressed for months and years, water and mold damage has made restoration of this once beautiful mansion too expensive to consider. AA's photos show the shadow of what it once was. Tragic.

In 2012, a fire that was ruled arson devastated the Hotel Do De in Bellefonte, PA. The resulting damage also led to the destruction of the adjoining Garman Opera House, a beloved community theater. Both were deemed irreparable and demolished in 2014. More at www.abandonedamerica.us/garman-theater

One of my favorite abandoned spots, the Phillipsburg Mall in NJ opened in 1989 and closed in 2020. It sat in limbo until it was demolished in 2024.
