A Democratic Senate Should Adopt Secret Impeachment Ballots on a Priority Basis
Such a change, requiring no constitutional amendment, would free senators to vote their judgment instead of their fears

Can you imagine if someone "accidentally" overpaid SPS teachers $13 million? The Times would be demanding long prison sentences. Every teacher who cashed their paycheck would be dragged before a committee. The entire school board would have to resign. No bottom to how bad SPD can be at their job.

Something big may be happening: Trump's world-historical misrule may be creating the conditions for the emergence of a coalition similar to the one that ousted Viktor Orban earlier this year: Anti-corruption, anti-authoritarian, pro-democracy. I made this case here: newrepublic.com/article/2161...

Not a fan of how Seattle Public Schools is pushing signing up for a trunk-or-treat event instead of leaning in and partnering with SDOT to encourage neighborhoods to shut down for play streets.

Big win for Seattle consumers 🛒 Today we passed Fair Pricing legislation, banning companies from using your personal data to charge you more than the person next to you. Same product, same store, same price — no matter who’s pushing the cart.
Photo of a bag of groceries with the text “Seattle Becomes First City to Ban Algorithmic Price Fixing”"Food is an essential good that's getting more expensive all the time," said Mayor Katie Wilson.
"People have been clear: they don't want their data fed into algorithms that decide how much they pay at the grocery store.
Everyone deserves transparent pricing and equal treatment, not hidden systems that charge some shoppers more than others.”
