Eisenkot released an ad earlier today which attacks Netanyahu for “expressing support for two states dozens of times”— ie in the last two weeks of the election season the opposition leadership is attacking Netanyahu from the right.
Benjamin, this is Palestine.
On 27.10, it's either the man who expressed support for two states dozens of times and will form a government of evasion, or a Zionist mobilization government of Yesh Atid! With Gantz.

Over the last decade, there were two hypotheses: H1: the political right genuinely cared about threats to speech from the left. H2: they were using campus speech wars to impose their values and silence dissent. Today, the answer is clear, but I can't find any of the H1 people admitting their error.

New open-access paper: Direct File showed that govt could build its own user-centered platform without relying on contractors. But the product was killed after a DOGE lead spoke with the private tax preparation industry lobbying against a private option. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
The ability of governments to build and sustain public interest capacity partly depends upon the position of private interests, and the ability and willingness of a government to resist private interest opposition.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) built a digital tax reporting service, Direct File, that created significant public value for users.
Direct File depended upon the creation of internal capacity: a government digital service team that could build digital platforms, rather than procuring a product from private vendors. Government control of the process allowed agile development and iterative improvement that would have been impossible under a traditional outsourcing model.
Long-standing opposition to Direct File by the private tax preparation industry, combined with Trump-era downsizing by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led to the elimination of the tool.

ABOLISH ICE. END NYPD VIOLENCE. 17 New York State Socialists in Office and Democratic nominees respond to Thursday’s shooting of Oscar Belgal and call to abolish ICE, end NYPD assistance of ICE, and disband NYPD’s SRG.

On Thursday, ICE agents in Upper Manhattan shot, wounded, and kidnapped Oscar Belgal. Wearing masks and construction vests, ICE fired seven rounds into a car, shooting Mr. Belgal in the neck while his 5-year-old child cried in terror. ICE then seized Mr. Belgal from NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital and sped away in an unmarked vehicle, while NYPD officers cleared a path and attacked protestors. Mr. Belgal’s whereabouts are unknown.

Abolishing ICE is the bare minimum. ICE agents are a threat to public safety, due process, and the rule of law. There is no reforming this degree of lawlessness and cruelty. We reiterate our demand for Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and all congressional Democrats to publicly support the abolition of ICE and work to defund and dismantle this fascist agency.New Yorkers bravely stood up against ICE’s attacks on immigrants last night, only to be obstructed and assaulted by NYPD officers. Jessica Tisch must end police assistance for ICE operations and disband NYPD’s Strategic Response Group—and if she won’t, she must be fired. Additionally, the New York City Council must pass the CURB Act (Int. 796 / Ossé) to ban all of SRG’s abusive practices.

As Socialists in Office, we are committed to strengthening New York’s laws to end all collaboration with ICE once and for all. That includes the State passing New York For All and the Safe Access to Care Act (A11537 / Forrest) to protect hospitals and healthcare workers from ICE. ICE out of New York now!Signed by:

Smotrich & Ben-Gvir aren't fringe Twitchers, they're senior cabinet ministers! Smotrich controls the Finance Ministry and has major authority over the West Bank, & Ben-Gvir runs the police ministry. Both are on the security cabinet, and their parties are crucial to Netanyahu's governing coalition.
“Abdul consistently judges pro-Israel Jews in Michigan, and the entire Zionist movement, by Israel’s most extremist elements, such as [Itamar] Ben-Gvir and [Bezalel] Smotrich,” Arbit said, referring to far-right ministers in Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s coalition, “yet gets very indignant when people judge him by the most extreme statements of Hasan Piker,” a Twitch streamer who has espoused antisemitic rhetoric and with whom El-Sayed campaigned during the primary.
“I have a huge problem with that hypocrisy,” Arbit added. “Should you judge a movement by its fringes or shouldn’t you? Which is it?”

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with Ezra Klein (book recommendation section) where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain" and this will be staying with me for an extremely long time. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/o...
But there’s also something about truth to pain. We talk a lot about truth to power, but I think it’s actually a lot harder to speak truth to pain. I say that as someone who went to medical school, realizing that in a lot of our politics right now, we’ve got to get a lot better at speaking truth to pain if we’re going to get through some of these challenges that we have.

What does “truth to pain” mean?

It’s one thing to look power in the eye and say: You’re wrong about this. But there’s a way in which pain is very difficult to reason with. Because when somebody is in their pain, they’re in their trauma. They see that pain, and they may not see what’s causing it.

I remember just very explicitly being in a trauma ward with a gunshot wound patient and watching this big guy with his hand on his gunshot wound. All the folks are trying to pull his hand off his pain, that point of his gunshot wound, this clear vulnerability.

And this emergency room doctor had the presence of mind to be like: Everyone, stop. And she looks him in the eyes, and she’s like: I get that really hurts, and I’m so sorry that you’re here. You don’t want to be here. We don’t want you to be here. But if you don’t let us fix this, you could die. So I’m going to take your hand, and I’m going to move it off, OK? Because I need to get there so that you can live.

She was speaking truth to pain. He understands he’s at the hospital, he needs care, but he also doesn’t want anybody to touch the wound. Which is a natural thing. And I think it is a really great metaphor for how we think about a lot of these challenges we talked about today.
