Regarding a door, "ég opna hurðina" but "ég loka hurðinni". This is the kind of thing I'll fail to remember if there isn't a reason and it's just how things are 😂 101
Samer @samer.is · 14h😭 Walking back from a night out, I always stop before turning down Garðastræti off Túngata and check for aurora. If there’s even a hint, I walk up to the church as it’s surprisingly dark around there. 160

It’s my retelling of the Icelandic 12th century myth of Selkolla. It has changelings (or does it?), mound dwellers, blót and a fair bit of blood. Samer @samer.is · 05/10/2026This worked really well. Ice cream whipped up with a bit more body, too. Think will test it out again and post the recipe to my website. I might try it with a smaller batch size. 1100

Samer @samer.is · 04/10/2026I had a single day of pain, but it was mostly discomfort, some ear popping/sinus issues when sneezing. (The pain may have been from a biting midge that got into my ear. The infection was a cold that migrated.) 010

Samer @samer.is · 04/10/2026That spot used to be a Greek tavern. Delicious. The owners refused to sell to the developer that built the big apartment building around them. Eventually they retired and sold it, and every single restaurant that’s gone in there has been bad. 210
Samer @samer.is · 04/10/2026Walked past Hanabi Ramen around a drizzly 7p and there was a line out the door. Rounded the corner and walked past Wagamama and you could walk in there with 20 people and get seated immediately. That site is definitely cursed. 210

Samer @samer.is · 03/10/2026The custard is incredibly smooth and has a bit of air worked into it. Super easy method, I’m shocked it isn’t suggested often. I’ll cool it overnight and then flavor with fermented fruits to make a few different ice creams. 381
Samer @samer.is · 03/10/2026Just had a dumb food idea and had to do it and … it worked? Instead of cooking a custard for ice cream in the traditional way, just use a proper high-end blender. Blender has to be able to heat the liquid via friction; mine got the mix to 80°C in about seven minutes! 2120
