I would try a spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol on the surfaces you’ve exposed so far, and then more scrubbing with q tips and baby bottle brushes for the crannies. But there might still be more significant stuff to clean if you disassemble a few more parts of the door.

I really hate to pile on here, but they are doing the same thing with Covid. The air is not safe, Covid causes damage to your immune system, brain, heart, etc, even when you have a mild infection. And they've been telling everyone for years that's it's all fine and good and we should live like Covid isn't still circulating and causing immense harm. They don't care as long as the economy is okay.

That’s a good explanation. I also think it’s psychological like how most wine appreciation is nonsense. If you believe the food is better because of where it came from, then it tastes better. See also: free food tastes better. And also extremely expensive food can taste slightly better.
