Immigration is a big issue for the UK public. There’s no way around it. Many Brits feel left behind, feel devoid of opportunity and functioning public services. But denying the contribution immigrants make to the UK economy is a fool’s errand. Me on @gbhnews.bsky.social

📈 Inflation just rose to 3.6% - the highest it’s been all year. For voters, that’s not just a number. It’s pressure on bills, wages that don’t stretch, and a cost-of-living crisis that still isn’t over. Growth only counts if people feel it.

Electric cars will be getting cheaper - finally. But we've been saying this for months: net zero should mean everyday wins, meaning more pounds in people's pockets.

Shifting NHS care from hospitals to the community (highstreets, town centres, etc) eases pressure on hospitals and brings care closer to those who need it. It’s not just smart policy, it’s popular: 58% of Brits want the Government to prioritise local NHS services. @prafulnargund.bsky.social 📽️👇

The Good Growth Foundation welcomes the Chancellor’s focus on growth people can actually feel. We’ve long argued that growth must be tied to everyday life. Today’s emphasis on the NHS, national security and skills is a strong start. Now it's about delivery.

The Government has signalled major infrastructure commitments ahead of the Spending Review - but our research shows the public remains sceptical about whether these investments will deliver tangible benefits in their daily lives.
At today’s Spending Review, the Good Growth Foundation will be looking for clear, concrete measures from the Chancellor that demonstrate how growth will be made real for ordinary people - particularly through investment in skills, support for the NHS and action on the cost-of-living. There is a strong sense of urgency among voters; they want to see meaningful change now, not years down the line.

New in @thetimes.com: Our research shows the public wants smarter EU cooperation - not a return to the past, but practical deals on trade, defence and security. @jakerichardsmp.bsky.social outlines Brexit voters aren't blind to today's challenges. It is time to move forward.
My constituents are patriotic. They want their country to be resilient to new threats and prosperous in a chaotic world. Brexit themes must be honoured. Increased immigration, lack of control or any entanglement of our political structures would, rightly, be met with outrage by those who supported Leave. But there is scope for a debate that is not a “Brexit betrayal”. Research from the Good Growth Foundation shows 73 per cent of voters want co-operation on trade and the economy and 71 per cent on defence and security. It also shows the public’s red lines.
