📈 Inflation just rose to 3.6% - the highest it’s been all year. For voters, that’s not just a number. It’s pressure on bills, wages that don’t stretch, and a cost-of-living crisis that still isn’t over. Growth only counts if people feel it.

Electric cars will be getting cheaper - finally. But we've been saying this for months: net zero should mean everyday wins, meaning more pounds in people's pockets.

The UK and EU are finally turning the page. We called for a common sense deal - and now progress is taking place on all four policy areas we set out. This is a win for UK-wide growth, and avoids key concerns of the public. 📣 Statement from our Director, @prafulnargund.bsky.social 👇

@economist.com this week quotes Labour Together's research which found that voters are supremely pessimistic about high prices, thinking that they're here forever. If some energy prices *do* fall (as they are predicted to do) this could be a rare upside surprise for voters.

Very interesting chart from the new @goodgrowthfdn.bsky.social @prafulnargund.bsky.social report on the UK-EU reset. It suggests there's more room for the Labour government to be ambitious with the EU than they're currently willing to admit.

Labour MPs are confident the UK-US trade deal could improve Britain's economic position — and help them electorally. But the public are still not fans of Trump — as some eyebrow raising JL Partners polling for the Good Growth Foundation makes very clear. www.politico.eu/article/dona...

Delighted to see a small preview in @observeruk.bsky.social editorial of our upcoming work on the UK-EU relationship. Trump is definitely a push factor for a closer relationship. There are political realities that must be respected, but a pragmatic approach can get a closer relationship.

The UK can be a safe haven in an ocean of chaos. Today’s speech was a welcome shift from the PM but symbolism isn’t strategy. We need bold thinking, stronger EU ties and serious support for British industry. GGF director, @prafulnargund.bsky.social's, response to the PM’s remarks:
GGF Responds to PM's Speech

Praful Nargund, Good Growth Foundation Director, said:

"The UK has the opportunity to be a safe haven in an ocean of chaos. That means picking our friends carefully. For months now, the public has said it prefers a close trading relationship with the EU over one with the US. We have to get our ducks in a row ahead of the upcoming UK-EU summit to achieve meaningful change, strengthening our relationship with the UK’s biggest trading partners."

Many countries worry about declining birth rates, but in English-speaking nations, it seems to be more of a preoccupation of the right, with the left reluctant to discuss the issue. We think that's unfortunate, so we gathered thinkers from the centre/left to reflect on the issue

Does GGF focus on the good or the growth? Growth cannot be a success if it doesn't lead to a lower cost of living, higher living standards, improved public services and more opportunity. Growth and the public good can go hand in hand - but you have to focus on what people want to see.
