A great reality check from Reuters. Polling hype won't win this. A shrunken House map and deep red Senate seats mean a landslide is far from guaranteed. Complacency is the enemy. Check your voter registration, help your neighbours, and make a plan to VOTE! 🗳️👇

Friday essay: Jeff Sparrow on the radical hope of ‘forgotten’ Australian writer Lesbia Harford
Lesbia Harford knew she would die young but became a revolutionary all the same. She loved both women and men, capturing the dizzying confusion of a violent time.

Thousands gather in London to express support for Palestinians after three years of ‘genocide’
March is first since Ed Miliband declared UK’s position was that Israel’s occupation of West Bank was unlawful Thousands of people have gathered in central London to express their support for Palestinians after three years of “genocide” carried out against them by Israel. The demonstrators, many wearing keffiyehs and holding Palestine flags, gathered on the Embankment at midday on Saturday. Some carried placards reading “End the genocide” and “Free Palestine“ as they marched towards parliament. A bride and groom appeared to be among those in attendance and a two-minute silence was held to reflect on the lives lost in Gaza. Continue reading...

It's a shame that left & non-regime journalists are still focusing on and replaying Schmit's self-own and failed gotcha moment over and over instead of Sen. Cory Booker's 12 min speech in full. What most journalists magnify reflects the algorithms that keep us in the same downward spiraling loop.

Don't think Australia is immune to authoritarianism
Nobody wakes up to sudden authoritarianism. We relinquish ourselves to it by allowing our favoured government to get away with bending norms and rules. Over time, these bends become clean breaks.
