First person in 15 years to carry a CRT on a bike (it was curbside free day in my town). Last person to do it was probably stealing it.

Today's repair.. My own dang Centipede! The monitor chassis died they other day. One minute it was fine, the next minute, no high voltage. It was one of those cheapy AliExpress specials, so I just replaced it.

Recently got an old Pachinko machine and decided to try out GB Pachiokun which features a medieval court, spaceships, and normal-ass Pachinko parlors. Great tunes though.

Speaking of FDS, my copy of Legend of Zelda is quite odd. It's a blue disk, with a generic label. But the case has a possibly-legit spine with "ファミコン通信" at the bottom, a legit sticker on the back, and a US style hand drawn cover on the front, which is glued on. Can't tell what's under it.

Listening to @jparish.bsky.social on Retronauts talking about the Famicom Disk System. Reminded me that I have a Roland MT-32 compatible synth (the MT-100) that has a QuickDisk drive. Very cool to see how Nintendo adapted them.

Realized I had maybe one of the rarest arcade marquees around, and it's unused. The layer on the front was cemented on and I'm getting it off now with some water and heat. Can anyone guess what it is?

For some reason I was looking up the Beavis and Butthead point-and-click games and was surprised to find they weren't all made by the same dev. The Illusions Gaming Company might have had the most esoteric cross section of games I can think of:

Today's repair Super Sprint is a massive two board set and requires a second power supply for the video board. It's also a 24kHz game so I use the capture card to work on it.

One more repair to round out the evening. Konami's blades of steel. Bet you didn't know it was an arcade game? Well I'm counting on that for my next big video. This one had no sound due to a good ol' fashion bad Fujitsu logic chip. When we see the 'F' we say "Ffff..."

Today's repair - Rally X. This one had only basic blocky shapes and messed up color. The graphics ROM on the CPU board (go figure) was dead, no output. One PROM had one dead output giving weird colors. A good chance to use one of my FLAP adapters, which lets you use a cheap flash chip in its place.

Another quick repair! Bubble Bobble is one bootleg I'll repair, because the real one is so expensive. Graphics were all squished to one. Some missing signals led me to a 74LS377 (IC59). Piggybacking brought the screen back, glitchy though. Removed the 377, it tested bad, and replaced!

Fixed up a "Gingateikoku no Gyukushuu" board today for a customer. The game is a Japanese version of UniWar S according to KLOV. The board is clearly not Irem's style, but it's a very nice PCB, reminiscent of Atari PCBs. Clearly a near clone of Galaxian with expanded ROMs.

Ocarina of Time is mostly about the differences between childhood and manhood, which mainly that boils down to having three pairs of shoes that you have to cycle through regularly instead of one.

Word on the street is that Suzo Happ is closing / has already closed. Website looks normal except for some products delisted such as the PowerPro power supplies I personally used. Hopefully we get some clarity. Hopefully other arcade shops can pick up the more exclusive items Happ had.

One of my favourite magazine clippings that didn't make the video. Wild Gunman (1974) can be seen near the bottom right, most likely the plastic molded cabinet. Scan from Game Machine November 1975 (archive.org). Watch the video on my "resurrection" of Wild Gunman if you haven't seen it!
