62jp.bsky.social @62jp.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Yes, surely would be better to properly review the current system which pays attendance allowance, PIP and pensions to people who really do not need financial assistance, while leaving others struggling to heat and eat (rather than tinkering with triple lock). Link with social care costs illogical? 000
62jp.bsky.social @62jp.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Feels like maybe tiimr for more radical shift in benefits approach, as currently some benefits paid to people who really do not need them financially ( including attendance allowance and pension) while others struggling to heat and eat. Tinkering with triple lock maybe wrong place to start ? 000

62jp.bsky.social @62jp.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Absolutely agree, schools are failing these kids and weakening the economy- construction is another area which could benefit. Hoping Miliburn report in Autumn will speak honestly about need for change 000
62jp.bsky.social @62jp.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Current mainstream system values academic engagement but they mayhave non academic skills/interests which can be a pathway forward into employment too eg vehicle maintenance, sport and fitness, health and beauty sectors, childcare 200
62jp.bsky.social @62jp.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Yeah- I am thinking of the kids who stop attending/disengage from mainstream in secondary and end up in PRU. It is a small cohort but my guess is they are at risk of being NEET by 16. 100
62jp.bsky.social @62jp.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Have been wondering if one way forward is offering more dierse pathways so there is a suitable choice for all students, eg totally vocational pathway from 14 for the students who are disengaged from academic education but some of whom can already strip an engine or do hair and nails? 100
62jp.bsky.social @62jp.bsky.social · 28/07/2026Yes, think NEETs is a complex issue and would have been better to wait until the Milburn report in Autumn. Maybe time to stop making daily policy announcements as starting to be counterproductive? 061
