The first Google hit - and main references on the search for "Change My Mind" - is a country song. Where's his lawsuit against that? Have to say I'm glad it's been months since I've had to think of Crowder.

It's certainly notable that Bolduc is crossing his party, but Pappas should be embarrassed to highlight an election-denier - endorsement or not. Let Bolduc say whatever the hell he wants, but don't lend him any legitimacy. www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a...
From the New Yorker on 11/14/22: Last week, Maggie Hassan, the incumbent Democratic senator of New Hampshire, defeated her Republican opponent, Don Bolduc, a retired Army general and a Donald Trump supporter. Known during his military career for focussing on the mental health of his soldiers, Bolduc took a hard-right turn to curry favor with Trump—a strategy that helped him triumph in the G.O.P. primary. When he and I last spoke, in 2021, he went on at length about his loyalty to Trump, and his belief that the 2020 Presidential election had been stolen. Later in the campaign, Bolduc disavowed his election denialism, before then going on to hint that he did so only to win over New Hampshire’s electorate, which is relatively moderate. Hassan ended up defeating him by a nine-point margin.

I read this a few months. It's a tough read, but it's another example of the institutional sabotage awaiting some sexual assault victims.

Dude, just block the number. Ought to be a more abusive or threatening pattern than a Shrek dick pic. BTW the "victim," a pol who lets papers publish his private number, texted a defense witness (a lobbyist) who testified *during* the trial to question why he shared info with the blogger. WTH?

Holy shit, this thread. There are multiple examples of what I would consider to be journalism malpractice that she details here. I guess I shouldn't be surprised given Gannett's reputation, but still.

A good approach for your own life & the changes that happen to - and around - you. So much time wasted worrying about others' opinions. So much time absorbed collecting dated ideals & references that the next generation doesn't get. Learn, adapt & enjoy as life passes us by & we eventually pass on.

I committed to stay 2 yrs b/c I quit my 1st job early-mix of ethics concerns, life changes, etc.-so I needed to overcome a gap. Still the worst boss I've had. Also learned he claimed I had a crush on staffer I met at intvw who had mutual acquaintance from college. Spread that to staff b/f I started.

As an out-of-state candidate, I once got a newspaper job over a similarly qualified reporter who lived nearby & already was freelancing for the paper b/c I didn't have a nose ring & he did. By the time I learned this, I'd already realized the editor was an ass who talked behind his staffers' backs.

ESPN pulls its punches and SI is a zombie. We don't have "Outside the Lines" or "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" anymore. The Athletic does some strong work, but is more consistent with deep profiles than investigations. As @pablo.show says, the water is warm. We need more reporters plunging in.

This lane is wiiide open. This is, basically, what I wanted to do coming out of j-school when I was burnt out from covering games. The pro teams are giant corporations. Many of the stadiums/arenas have public financing. Gambling has its tentacles everywhere. We need more than highlights & jock talk.

I have a lot of Ross stories. Here's one of them: KDKA-TV's newsroom is in Downtown Pittsburgh, on a plaza with a little park. A few years back, several of us were watching through the windows as a gentleman exhibited some concerning drug-induced behavior, until the point when he was slumped over

I was a reporter at the Butler (PA) Eagle, a p.m. paper about 2 hours from Shanksville. We had no TV in the newsroom. I was following the AP updates, then ran to get reax from community college students as I was watching the footage for the first time and catching up on what the hell was happening.

Legality, ethics & optics aside, a party controlling the White House & two chambers could pass it now, aim for sending the $ out in mid- to late-October & say "Look what we've done for you." Instead, it's "Do something for us after we've wrecked the economy and we promise we'll actually do this."

True crime has really just broken people’s brains. Millions of people perpetually worried that they’re at acute risk of vanishingly rare crimes, convinced we should curtail civil liberties as a result. A generation who thinks of accusing strangers of heinous crimes as simple entertainment
