Spyro the Dragon 1 is the complete polar opposite of Marvel's Wolverine in terms of design philosophy. It dumps you into a big open world and expects you to figure out everything yourself, no tutorials or even button prompts. There's guidance, but no linear path. The whole game is like this

Keep your first piece of art handy. Yes, the really bad one. The one with the shaky lines and the attempt at using negative space and the spots you didn’t carve out enough and said “I will never create anything of quality.” When you feel bad, put it next to your newest piece. I promise it helps.

A small crudely carved stamp of a cat over a mug of beer. The lines are uneven, some don’t connect, there are cut throughs and nicks, and it’s kind of hard to tell what it even is. The print itself is unevenly stamped, and a little blurred.

A linocut block print of the landlady from kung fu hustle, printed in speed ball ink with her curlers accented by red, yellow and pink acrylic marker. Several techniques have been used so that it looks like she has a glowing aura and is emerging from the darkness. It is framed in a small black metal frame and matted with no glass.

Im still early in my journey so my advice is to make the art you want to and find a way to love the process. What you make doesnt have to be good it just has to be yours. And the most important thing is that YOU like it, don't rely on outside validation. Oh and save everything! Yes even the bad ones

The "creatives" who use genAI at any part of their process need to understand I'm not desperate for new media. There is such a backlog of arts, movies, books, and games WITHOUT genAI that if nothing new was made again, I'd still need a hundred lifetimes to consume even a fraction of it.

My extra thoughts for curious lookers and those using screen readers: During my brief research, Wikipedia said the Jellyfish is the sexual point of their lifespan, so I tried to make her look a little more promiscuous. Jellyfish also don't have conventional brains, and they kinda just float around and that made me think of a stoner for some reason, so that's what drove the expression and pose.

Haven't finished anything in a bit, so here's a doodle/experiment I did. I thought it would be interesting to try and draw Japanese Yokai based on their description so here's a Kappa. Sort of also a visual library test, the only ref I used was turtles to try and add their elements #Art #DigitalArt

A Kappa is a Japanese Yokai that is described as a monster that's a cross between a turtle and a boy, and who will lure anyone too close to the edge into the water and drown them. I kept my pen pressure settings linear since I wanted to train my pen control to hopefully translate to traditional if I ever wanted to. Finally decided to actually set my pen pressure and I was immediately able to control pressure the way I intend. I can admit when I'm wrong
