If it is listed as "has recomp", the recomp did not use AI. Someone more knowledgeable than me would need to see if the PC port versions of these games used AI or not.

The decomp requires the functions to perfectly match the original game. The recomp doesn't need to perfectly match, it just needs to functionally behave the same. While working with the recomp, we just happened to match some functions perfectly and therefore use them for the decomp.

There is a mods feature that anyone can contribute to if they choose to make changes to the base game. Tag Anywhere is the only mod we included from the start since that would have been the most requested feature by far, but there will be more to come, whether done by us or not.

Generative AI has not been used in ANY point of the process of making the DK64 recomp. We have not generated a single line of code with AI, and we're not even referencing it to solve a difficult problem. All code has been human made, backed with years of working with DK64 and referencing RT64 devs.

This fix took us about 3.5 weeks to find and is the kinda stuff which resulted in us not wanting to give a specific release date for the recomp. We didn't want to over-promise, run into a race condition like this with some deep buried nonsense, and then run past the date Summer 2026

Donk Recomp: We have fixed (easily) the biggest issue with the recomp left - The audio engine. There's a race condition within the audio code. On higher-end systems, this would not result in any issue. However, on lower-end systems, it could do one of two things: Kill the audio or crash the game.

Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.
