I dunno how it feels to follow a sport with a draft though. That seems weird to me.

Much as people wish it was all local, they tend to be pragmatic enough to accept some mobility to avoid spending a lifetime watching their local team get obliterated. Plus some people pick teams for essentially random reasons, or reasons that become less obvious over time.

It's a bit complicated, really. Sports fans reject some things, like the NRL's bullshit attempt to brand Redcliffe as just "The Dolphins". They accept club mobility for players, but do wish there was more loyalty, and they go absolutely nuts over eligibility for rep footy.

I was thinking more about the players than fans TBH. Chooks are notorious for buying talent, so they'd be less successful if they couldn't do that. And yeah, I'm from Queensland.

Well, the Roosters wouldn't exist that's for sure.

It's a pity that so many people are being scammed by PHON, who are cynically manipulating their anger and despair into votes. But PHON do not offer hope or unity, they offer hate and division. PHON will take your vote, take the money that comes with it, and give nothing back.

Yeah the line is pretty much gone, and the brand damage is just as real, but "sticking stuff on insta" still seems to be considered shitkicker work in a lot of orgs.

(I shouldn't say 'drama'... just meaning this doesn't appear to have made it to other channels before it got yanked)

It's a bit unclear how it's related to the rest of the campaign which is really focused on the talent, but allegedly all shot in the same round of work. Hard to unpick as it appears to have been an entirely Instagram drama that's all been deleted since.

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.

High school curricula should include basic philosophy and semiotics. People generally think it's silly to study such artsy-fartsy things, but those are the same people who can't decode the media storm they live in; and they think LLMs "know" things. They are desperately unprepared for modern life.

The language takes so much effort to parse and understand, you're brain fried by the end when you're meant to be doing synthesis and insight. Ingestion is now burning all the energy. So people dump the docs into more AI tools to get the synthesis, which abstracts it furhter...
