Mid August at an art show I came up with an app idea. I expected to prototype test at this weekends show, end to end test at January show, submit/release in March. Submit/release probably a week away. Less than 2 months from ideation to release.

Also considered Christopher Cross, but I feel like Mayer had a wider impact. But not, like, John Fogerty or Don Henley impact. Absolutely not Phil Collins level.

I'm not much of a Pokémon person, but my son is & trying to buy him cards at retail prices has been nigh on impossible the last couple of years, and I refuse to pay scalpers for anything. At the stage of app development when I convince myself that it sucks and I made a pile of garbage. I have to wait it out and not do anything stupid.

Oh he just did most of the N64 Kirby Crystal Shards thing. He’s tried every Kirby he’s been able to. I’ve made him a Kirby piece every Christmas for the last 4 years. Now he’s asking for characters I’ve never heard of.

He has a thing for Metroid. He asks me to play it over and over. He got too lost in Prime Remastered, though, and got too scared of DREAD after the first full E.M.M.I. fight. It's all filler for him though until new Kirby drops right at his birthday, for which he is VERY excited.

That is very helpful. He's between those two and Minecraft Legends II, and, oddly, Metroid Prime 4. I've avoided Prime 4, but I've heard it's a decent "kid's first Metroid" since it's more straightforward. Whatever he gets, it's the last before Christmas, so he has to choose wisely.

Since threads always lead with the first post, I have to ask, Pikmin 4 or Yoshi Mysterious Book? My 9yo is torn. He did both demos this weekend. I'm afraid he'll be done Yoshi in less than a week but he wants that more.

My new analogy for AI coding is a hand saw vs a table saw. A table saw lets you do more at scale with nice, clean cuts. But you don't just turn it on and throw boards at the blade. You have to know what you're doing, know what it's doing and what it's best at, and be in full control.

Fake robotic mower. Scale and design changes almost every shot. Some of them have started turning off comments since the AI is easily called out.

YouTube shorts has turned into AI slop central, especiallly in the ads. Lots of AI demo videos of things you can buy that probably work only 1/4 as well as the fake video.
