the start of the World Cup + every game since the World Cup is one of the best extended runs in USMNT history but right in the middle of that they had a very important game where they repeatedly blasted themselves in the groin with a shotgun

Best run of on-field performance I've witnessed in the 40+ years I've been watching our team (except for, etc). You think the current generation of players was good? Get ready for the next one. These new kids look like proper footballers.

It’s because they played Balogun, rather than honoring the suspension, and thereby took advantage of Trump’s corruption and subjected themselves to the curse. If they’d benched him and announced they would not take part in Trump’s interference theydve won the cup.

These games don’t matter right now and are sandwiched between the end of a draining World Cup and League play, which is currently underway. Rosters are also a bit interesting everywhere. What teams these players play for when the break is over will always be the important factor.
