Rodger Sherman @rodger.bsky.social · 27/01/2026fun chart for the "dunk on red states" crowd, but also shows a path to killing fascism dead: education. take those ICE billions and spend it on schools in all 50 states. free college for all. we have the best higher ed system in the world, let more people be a part of it 1232449
Adam Zones Out @theadamzone.xyz · 27/01/2026The assault on education is why we're here and also why Republican "legislators" are so dumb, uncurious, and easy to manipulate by bad actors such as the also insanely dumb 45th and 47th president 000
Jay Horrey @jayhorrey.bsky.social · 27/01/2026And this is why the administration is also attacking educational institutions and red states are trying to kill public education at every turn 010
Dingus Squatford Jr 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇱🇨🇱🇨 @bumkz.bsky.social · 27/01/2026Canada is the most educated country on earth on only slightly less ok with fascism than the United States. Again you'll find the less educated provinces (Alberta) to be the most problematic 010
Raoul Meyer @mistermeyer.bsky.social · 27/01/2026Thank you for the reminder that fewer than 4 out of 10 Americans are "college educated." Recognizing this fact should make us reconsider so much attention being paid to university campuses and pay more attention to k-12 education. 010
CT @hawaiiowan.bsky.social · 27/01/2026There's a reason so many red states (hi iowa) are dismantling public education for private voucher systems. An uneducated electorate is a feature for them, not a flaw. 0141
Afino @afino.bsky.social · 27/01/2026these people don't want to be smart though, Rodger. they just want to sit around, praise God, drink beer, make more babies, and watch football, and their lives don't want to be more difficult than that 000
zneeley25.bsky.social @zneeley25.bsky.social · 27/01/2026this is one of those circular things where “does being more educated make people vote more small d democratic or does having more small d democratic freedom allow people to vote for more money for education” that you won either way if you succeed in voting in more ed money 000
perplexpert @situational-lefty.bsky.social · 27/01/2026I've felt some flavor of this way for a long time... dismantling the DOE is just the latest and most ambitious attempt by Republicans to keep people from engaging in any amount critical thinking. (For some, consumer-targeted agentic AI is another frontier in this project.) 000
thewallsfell.bsky.social @thewallsfell.bsky.social · 27/01/2026I would guess that this is correlation, not causation. You could probably make a similar plot with any general indicator of socioeconomic status. + The college educated move for jobs; the % of college educated people in a state don't necessarily reflect the % of college educated people from a state. 100
Wombat 🔥 Horse @batensmack.bsky.social · 27/01/2026Except, the Fascists know this which is why they are actively destroying public education in their states. 050
mhaight22.bsky.social @mhaight22.bsky.social · 27/01/2026Don’t stop at the ICE budget. We could cut the entire military budget by a fraction and cure cancer. 000
