The current problems plaguing OC Transpo are rooted in bad decisions made by past councils. Cuts to bus service and train frequency this term (all of which I voted against) have only made the problem worse. We need all hands on deck to address this emergency. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I have sat through endless meetings describing how the company that built the LRT is going to fix the immense technical problems that the trains are plagued with. The decision to invest in technology that wasn’t properly tested in Ottawa weather continues to haunt us. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Having a functional transit system is a basic responsibility for any major city. Ottawa continues to fail at this basic obligation and residents are right to be angry. We all deserve better.

The Alstom Citadis Spirits are a lost cause. There is no fixing them. They are fundamentally flawed. To fix Line 1 you need to throw away the rolling stock and replace them with something better. But that also means having to redesign every station.

This issue has nothing to do with the weather. While yes, the train sometimes has issues in winter (we are not alone in that), the core problem lies at the wheel-rail interface. This means RTG and Alstom need to work together to fix the core issue of line 1, but the P3 partnership discourages this.
