The new flu variant, the one that evades the vaccines pretty well, does NOT show up on home tests according to my doctor. He said even some ER tests it will not show up on because they have to have a specific test for it. Just a heads up. He thinks that's what we have 👍

I don't think that's specific to this year, influenza tests have historically not been great, like 50/50. If you have flu like symptoms, you can assume you have the flu.

In case this leaves the folks who know me already, Im a diligent tester and masker with high quality masks! I take very few risks because I am on chemo and have no immune system. Because others wont do the group project that is public health, people like me get sick. Mask the fuck up

Just as a disclaimer idk why a flu a subvariant wouldn't show up- there's a chance he read you cant subtype it without a special test and misunderstood, but I am a goof who assumed a doctor would just know that? So grain of salt, but that's what he said to me
